Green New Deal is an idea without a plan, because any plan to actually achieve the stated goals would be rejected on its face.
Latest green energy installs have been running about $2B per TWH/Yr, and since we currently use some 4,000 TWH/Yr, we're talking some $8 trillion just to replace current capacity. If we someone come up with magic battery technology to replace internal combustion engines in cars, that could double the electricity needs. So, $16 trillion is just a bare minimum, if we assume a lot of magic and ignore about 3/4th the actual costs..... So, when Bernie blasted out a $16 trillion Green New Deal plan I was like... oh, is this just the replace current production portion? Is he being honest about the costs???? Nope. So disappointing. $1.5 trillion for generation, $0.8T for storage, $0.5T for grid... blah, blah, blah, It then goes off the rails (ironic since it doesn't include national high speed rail) into everything from affordable housing to cash for the union coal workers that will lose their jobs to cash for liberal environmental groups to handouts to farmers to.... Snake oil.
