From September 10th-13th, we’re heading back out for a kayak and canoe camping trip!
?? The Plan:
We meet at the Tudor House Thursday evening. We load the cars, drive 4-6 hours to the put-in spot, and set up camp about a quarter mile down the river from the put-in. (It’s the most efficient way to start, and it gives everyone a chance to remember how their gear works before we’re a ten mile paddle away from the nearest replacement part).
The next day (Friday) around noon, we’ll start exploring the river.
We’ll cover somewhere between 10 and 15 miles over the weekend. The pace is flexible but fairly relaxed. We’ll follow the river, and if we find a spot that’s perfect for doing absolutely nothing, we’ll stay there for a while.
This is beginner-friendly. If you’ve never done this before or just need a refresher we’re happy to help! Ash and Ivy have spent enough time in the backcountry to be considered “outdoorsy” at best and “completely obsessed with living out of a bag while fending off racoons who want to steal our food” at worst... We’ll look at your gear ahead of time and help you figure out what’s functional and what is just "just in case" dead weight.
? The Vibe:
This trip is slow. We paddle down the river, we take breaks, we set up camp, we eat, we relax, and we enjoy some summer camp-nostalgia vibes.
We’ll have a cryptid hunt, s’mores, and naked dancing around a bonfire, but there is no rigid schedule, and everything is optional. Some people like to talk; some people like to wander off and stare at a rock in total silence for three hours. Some people like to have so much sex that sitting in the kayak the next day is exceedingly uncomfortable.
?? Logistics & Vetting:
We’ll coordinate carpooling at the house on Thursday evening. If you’re driving separately, let us know so we don’t spend an hour at the wondering if you’ve been recruited by a cult of squirrels.
This is a Tudor House trip, so standard vetting/vouching rules apply. If you’re new to The Tudor House, please make sure to complete the vetting process at www.thetudorhouse.org.
The woods are calling! We’ll see you on the trail.
