If you took your favorite dinner, say lobster, or a surf & turf for me, and ate it 2-3 times a week for years, I'd expect it would lose some of it's appeal. Even if you stopped eating it for a couple of months. I can't help but wonder if any here have had the same thing happen with sex?
In many cases, people just can't get enough of it often enough to ever worry about this, but I'm reasonably sure others have participated in opportunities so many times over a span of time that sex is simply not that big of a deal anymore. I do know that somewhere between the 3-4 year mark in the LS we lost our "nervous excitement" going to LS parties/events or play dates. It's not that we don't look forward to and enjoy them. We've just long since gotten over any nervousness about playing. Anyway, in most cases, people can just push limits to regain some of that nervous excitement. Eventually though, the limits like orgies/gangbangs that were once beyond one's wildest dreams become more common. At some point there are no limits left you're willing to push, and it can get to be, "Now what?" For us, we find that sex is just one of many fun things to do so we engage some of our LS friends to do fun vanilla stuff as well as sex and we find we really enjoy the social aspects of the LS. In this case though, it ironically tends to mean we wind up having even more sex at times. Many love the idea of true FWBs. By not focusing on sex, we actually wind up doing more, if that make's sense. Kind of a conundrum. Any other's here that can relate to this, and if Yes, what (if anything) have you done about it? BTW - While we DO have weeks that we play 2-3 times a week, it's not the norm. We've also taken 2 - 3 week breaks from playing due to other obligations, so for us at least, "Play less" doesn't appear to be the answer. In fact, playing less tends to curb our sexual desire rather than increase it. When you're at a "Use it or lose it" age, having less sexual desire isn't viewed as a good thing IMHO.
