The US is in an interesting position. The trend is getting uglier. If you look at wages in a pyramid scale, you would expect those that earn a lot to be at the very top of the pyramid. You would expect it to look like a nice pyramid with a slope that is close to 45 degrees. The reality is that it is not. Trump, and it was not his creation, he's running with what he inherited, but Obama and Bush and going back to Reagan started the divide of this pyramid. They thinned the middle and pushed the middle down. Now the pyramid may not be as tall, but the base is very wide.
There is a stat and I am sure that PHX and his cronies are going to jerk off over it. That stat is that the median income is higher. A centrist leaning group, Brooks Institute did a wicked report on this subject. They state there are 53 million workers who are working in low-wage jobs in the age range of 25 to 54. Their median wage is 10.22 an hour. What is this doing? What is the impact? Is this part of why we have a massive drug/alcohol problem? Is this, as was mentioned by Sar and myself, the power of the large corporation dictating wages? The report has a nice chart that shows where these low wage jobs are. This is partially why Trump was elected. He promised to make these jobs pay more. This is where I think he will lose people, their job earnings have not increased. The rich have gotten richer and the poor have gotten poorer.
