Just as physical health, or lack of it, can impact your LS experience, no doubt this can too. It's interesting that nobody talks about it though. Why is that? Is it too personal?
Women tend to talk about things that bother them more than men. Women also tend to live longer than men ;-) Can't help but wonder if there is any correlation there. Personally, if something bothers me, I tend to talk about it. From a mental health point of view, this would likely be viewed "healthier" versus bottling things up. There's no doubt that things like ED and body image issues take their toll. People talk about the physical aspects of these, but never the mental/emotional aspects.
