One of the interesting things about planning, designing, and building a new home as we approach retirement are the decisions to be made about aging in place. There are the 3' wide doors, zero entry showers, floor level night lighting, knowing where to put grab bars if they need to be installed at some later point. There is essentially no information out there about designing for adult play through the 'golden years', presumably based on the assumption that sex ends with retirement. Yet there is abundant information that old people are still playing: STI rates, The Villages, etc. etc.
We are designing for privacy so we don't have to wear clothes unless we choose to. There will be an outdoor-and-secluded shower and hot tub. But that really doesn't get to the core questions of how to encourage seniors to play, and to play as long as they are physically able. If you were building from the foundation up, what would you be thinking about that would make it easier to play during (y)our mature years? What do you wish you had engineered into your home, furnishings and so on? (Yes, we will have a guest wing... :) )
