I can't find a "news" topic. I guess they all got zapped one way or another.
At least 215 bodies of aboriginal (read: Indian) children were found in a mass grave outside of a former residential school in British Columbia. For about 150 years Canada took at least 150,000 Indian and Inuit children from their parents and forced them into government boarding schools until they could be adopted into white families in an effort to erase their identities. This is not ancient history; this didn't end completely until 1996. Conditions were often abhorrent, and children who died (3,000 to 6,000) in the schools were generally just dumped in mass graves. This was largely kept out of the public eye. I didn't hear about this myself until fairly recently. Canada is facing a humongous reckoning on this.
