I've been taking it for around a year now. It does help with the occasional difficulty with peeing caused by an enlarged prostate.
According to the CDC, NH is one of the 6 states in the US with a high incidence of prostate cancer for some reason. Saw Palmetto is a natural supplement for prostate health, which is why I started taking it. That, and my youngest is a doctor and she suggested it. It takes a month or so to notice an effect with the urinary issues, but I can't help but wonder if it has another undocumented side effect. About 4 months after taking it I started having "after shocks" after orgasms. It's like every sexual nerve ending in my body is wired to a switch and someone is flicking it on and off. I had never experienced that before the saw palmetto so not sure if it was that, or something else. The after shocks can last up to 5 minutes after I cum. I think most women know and have experienced after shocks but I have only ever seen one other guy that does this and he does not take saw palmetto. Closest I can explain it for guys is having a girl trying to suck your cock right after you came and it's hyper sensitive. Most women seem to love it when I full on cum now, though I do wind up having to explain to new ones that, No, I'm not having a heart attack or a stroke...lol
