Original Starting post for this thread:
Has anyone here stayed at Sea Gate recently? We are trying to decide where to go in southern Florida for a short vacation next month. Rooftop Resort in Hollywood is a known quantity, as we've stayed there 3 times already, but we are open to trying new locations. An online review from 2+ years ago was pretty scathing, but since then it has been taken over by new management.

We would also like some information on this place. We will be down in a couple of weeks and would like to hear some nice things about the place before we reserve our room.

Since posting this thread I have received some private emails from people regarding Seagate. It would be nice if they would respond here so lots of people could read, but I'll try to summarize.

Seagate is under new management and at a different location than they were a couple years ago. The place is clean and the people are friendly, but the pool is smaller than you find down the road at Rooftop, which is in Hollywood, FL. Ft. Lauderdale laws prohibit sex in open areas (such as around the pool), but they do have 2 group rooms. Apparently, fewer single men visit Seagate than Rooftop. If you are hoping to be watched enjoying PDA by men who may be stroking themselves, Rooftop is the place to go. The sexual intensity at Seagate is less than at Rooftop, and Rooftop offers several events during the week that have been enjoyed by many - even without sex being involved. Seagate may have events, too - check their website. Rooftop has a great location, being only 2 blocks from the beach and near several restaurants. Seagate is smaller but more intimate.

Hi there~

We have similar questions—but unfortunately nothing to add. We’ll be in the area at the end of February and are trying to decide whether to stay there or at a ‘vanilla’ hotel. The only other places we’ve learned about in the general area/half-day’s drive are Caliente, which appears to be more nudist than lifestyle, and Rooftop, which seems to have an overabundance of single men (not our thing).

Like you, most of our search results are moot because they’re from before the move/management change. Their Web site is a bit ... primitive ... and chock-a-block with stock photos—not exactly confidence-inspiring. Also, we’ve never been to any type of lifestyle resort/hotel so don’t know what else to expect or ask.

If you’ve heard or found anything since posting—or have any other advice or suggestions—would you be willing to share?
