well, like you said; "you always go with a group". so you are almost assured a certain atmosphere, interests, commonality, familiarity, etc. ditto for desire. you've heard and read of "slow weeks" at hedo before; the same can be said of desire, certain times of the year and without a group present. desire is undergoing a $1,000,000 USD renovoation to the guest rooms, disco and playroom, as we speak; to be completed dec 31, 2012. the rooms all have a fridge stocked with water soda and beer. there is at least one restaurant and/or bar opened 24/7. there is 24/7 room service (for $5) and they are very prompt and aim to please. desire provides adult beverage service at the beach and at the pool (they wait on you, take your order/bring your drinks). desire does not allow "locals" on the property or into the disco or hot tub. its couples only. its very safe with 24/7 security. desire is 20 minutes south of the CUN airport, via a safe and modern 4 lane highway. there is no prude or nude side, of desire; the entire resort is clothing optional. you cant be nude in the lobby, gym or indoor restaurants.........but we have broken those rules before WINK! there is a nude booze cruise that departs the resort, several days/week. there are tennis courts, sunfish sailboats, hobies and kayaks. guided snorkeling scuba and other off site activities are available for extra charge. (you can snorkle off the beach for free). we find that desire id much clean, bright, white, sensuous and classy........or maybe its our group? the service is definitely superior. but during the hot tamales takeover week, they really put on extra staff, to hustle for our group. food seems to be much better and some dishes and rests could be considered gourmet quality. the restaurants are air conditioned, service is great. no 3 hour suppers. one of the things that we like best about desire are the beds all over the resort and particularly, the ones on the beach and at night around the upstairs hot tub bar. we have traveled to desire in may the last 7 years. May is a SAFE time to go. there is zero threat of tropical storms, or hurricanes. the last two years in may we didnt even get a sprinkle! the desire rates drop down from the Jan - Apr "high season", after april 15th and are good all thru May. but the rates arent quite as low, as the "tropical season rates", of june - december. you are assured of a warm pool and warm waters, in may. having said all of the above; if you are expecting cold showers, reggae, ganja, lots of single guys & bbc, jerked chicken at 4pm and seeing your old buddies; you may be disappointed, at desire!

We love Hedo so much we started a group that goes every April. Started at H3 and now at H2. This coming April will be our 5th Anniversary.
We have never been to Desire but chatted with people that have.
We hear Desire is a wonderful resort, top notch, but the atmosphere is no where what it is at Hedo.
Hedo is being constantly updated and worked on but its pretty old, and they work hard but it's definetly not a 5 star resort, but the atmosphere and the people that go there make it the best place to vacation in the world for us.

Well. I kind of depends on what you like.
We've been to both. Have had alot of fun at both. But they are kinda different.
Best way I'd describe it is Hedo 2 is more like a fun dive bar. Desire is way nicer but a little more subdued but still fun.

We haven't been to any and want to hear from the knowledgeable membership on the pros and cons. Also all reviews we are seeing are a little dated so recent visits and those who have been to more than 1 would be greatly appreciated! If you've only been to 1, post away also!
