We're hoping that the overflow from desire fills it up.

We're hoping the word of mouth about the quality of the resort will cause it to keep picking up visitors. We didn't even know it existed two months ago and were completely confused by the references to another lifestyle resort in Cancun. They are running some good specials, I'm sure they'll be getting some take overs booked, but we still are worried. Then again it only takes hitting it off with one couple to make for a fantastic trip.

We were there a few weeks ago. Rooms are bigger and surroundings are a lot nicer. Yes....less couples and perhaps less "vibe". However, sometimes you have to make your own party. We liked it a lot better. There were enough couples to talk to (and more then talk with some!). You could go over the Desire via cab or their transport (which ends at 10 P.M.). Staff was just as nice. We heard 2 things: (1) the room occupancy will increase as Desire can't take many more people, or (2) Desire Pearl will become more of an exclusive spot then Desire. Take your pick on what you believe! Either way we would go back!

Makes me want to cancel all together.

Thanks for the update Powder, we were booked into Pearl for October but decided to go back to RM, you have confirmed our decision was correct. The energy of the resort is in the couples, no couples = no "vibe." J&B

Just back from RM....we did spend a day at Pearl, and it absolutely beats RM as a place of beauty. From the physical plant alone, we would never go back to the original resort. BUT............there is no vibe there.....and we have doubts as to if they could ever get it, even if they sold out. Everything being bigger and nicer (i.e. pool & hot tub). We were told they had 42 of their 88 rooms booked, but on our wandering around checking it out, we might have seen 18-20 couples, and several of those were like us visiting from the other resort. We left the hot tub at almost six to head back to RM, and when the 8 of us got out it cut the tub's occupancy in half. And after reading a few posts here, forget the shuttle y'all! When we checked in, we also were told that the Pearl shuttle would be ending in September.......
