TOPIC: What is Carnivals future?

Original Starting post for this thread:
Carnival which is the parent company for not only Carnival, but Princess, Holland America, Costa, P&O and Aida made a number of announcements last week. They announced they would be selling off three more ships. They also said they would not be adding additional ships to their fleet for the next decade.

According to an article from Motley Fool www fool com/investing/2022/10/17/3-red-flags-for-carnival-stock (put the periods in to read the article). Carnivals long term debt is up to $28.5 billion that is up from $9.7 billion in 2019. With in inflation rates growing this will make it harder to show a profit and if hit with a recession it will be even worse. While Carnival is losing money Royal Caribbean is now actually showing a profit.

We have cruised Carnival and Holland America once each. We're totally not impressed with Carnival. The Holland America was classier the average passenger seemed to be 80 years old and the ship closed down around 10 in the evening. We chose it for it's itinerary.

If we have another pandemic or the economy tanks we wonder if the cruise industry survives? Since they register all of their ships off shore to save on taxes they have no reason to go to the government for bailouts. Plus their management has shown they aren't too sharp when they actually listened to the CDC and shut down operations. Most people don't know it but the CDC is an advisory agency. They are not a regulatory agency. They have no power to tell anyone or any corporation what to do and have no power to fine them. That shit was all made up by mainstream media to scare the masses.
