Our local club is moving to another part of our town which sounds like a great idea to us. HOWEVER, they have also sent out their new pricing structure, with different levels of membership, and we had to say to ourselves, "oh, hell no".
I get there are expenses associated with laundry, rent/mortgage, mixers, sheets, towels, etc. etc. But the prices are insane. They are having FOUR levels of membership (how they'll keep track will be interesting) with varying amounts depending on the 1) level chosen; 2) Couple / single male / single female; and 3) Day of the week you attend. A 'normal' Saturday night event will now be $85.00 for a couple and $90.00 for a single male! However, if you buy a 'Level 3' membership for one year, you only have to pay $1,500 but your event fee will be reduced to $20.00 for a couple and $30.00 for a single male. They will provide 'valet parking', a reserved table at 6 parties during the year, and one free gift (valued at $25) one time a month. OR you can buy a LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP for only $5,000 and not pay any entry fees. I wonder if that's refundable should the club fold after 18 months? I guess we'll have to start road tripping down to Kansas City for more parties because those rates are unacceptable to us. Your thoughts?
