Original Starting post for this thread:
The warning post from the state of California is a well considered post. Liquor law violations are the most common method of attacking lifestyle groups. for that reason, Florida Socials, LLC, has taken several steps to insure the protection of club members. You can check out some basic information about any club before you attend and learn a great deal about whether it is a club where you feel safe and secure.

Ask if the club has a legal business structure. An LLC, LLP, Subchapter S or 'C' class corporate structure limits liability for all club members attending a group function. A 'Mom & Pop' group or club with no legal structure could very well mean that every person attending a function is potentially liable for anything that happens.

Next, Florida law is very specific on the requirements for a liquor license. Florida Statute 561 details the requirements, and our club, the Florida Social, went so far as to get a letter from the Enforcement Bureau stating that our club did not require a liquor license because of how we are set up under the statutory exemption regarding club members bringing there own bottles to club functions. Many 'clubs' have not taken the care to insure that they are operating legally under the Florida alcoholic beverage laws.

Finally, other factors include public (as opposed to private) nudity, drugs, prostitution, under age members and other common sense legalities. Every state has different laws for licensure, zoning and many other issues. Our club has a lawyer on the board. Any club you attend should have the guidance of a lawyer, too. The lifestyle we share is too important to allow the narrow minded bigots of the world to harrass our clubs away.

Thank you for the information. It is too bad that some people do not pay closer attention.
