I did both mine because I wasn't sure. I figured if I ever found out the signals I could take one out. LOL. Seriously, if you pierced the left one to give a str8 signal and no one knew what it was, they could get THEIR info mixed and think it means gay or BDSM or Democrat or what ever. Wear them both, hell, it's jewelry and feels great when my wife is riding me and pulling on them like a cowgirl on a wild bronco....uh...excuse me while I go find her.....
