Mods: I hereby nominate Shel's post below for sticky status. Without a doubt, the most intelligent and succinct responses to this perpetual question.

Time has proven that everyone here has a different opinion about these stupid labels. Ladies, you're not here to rise to everyone else's expectations as far as your orientation is concerned; just your own.

Boycott the Orientation Police!

I occasionally have sex with other females. This by definition makes me bi-sexual. There is always debate by others as what defines one "real" or "genuine" (ie. the gay baseball team that shunned other men because they are bi-sexual and not "gay enough"). I think the lesbian community tends to "shun" bi women so to speak because we really do not live with the stigma and social mistreatment that openly homosexuals often live with. I can fuck women and to society I am just your typical straight housewife....I do see their point. And I am sure that to some bi women I am not "genuine" because I vastly prefer cock to pussy and am incredibly bi selective. Not that others arent, I mean I really, really like dick lol. I do not watch bi porn nor do I fantasize about fucking women. I do however enjoy spending time with them. Bi for me is like golf. I really only like it if I'm doing it. But then, I'm just me.

We think XXX and Swingingpixie both have hit it right on the head. If a lady or a man for that matter is or can be attracted to both opp. and same sex then by definition, they are bi. It makes no differance what form of play I.E. oral, anal, etc. they choose.

I consider a bi-sexual woman to be a women sexually attracted to real woman not porn and not just to put a show on for their man as fun as that is. They are woman who pursue woman for an intimate relationship, is turned on by them and is turned on by bringing pleasure to every inch of her body even when the boys are not watching.

I define a genuine bi-sexual woman as being one who is attracted to, and thoroughly enjoys, the touch, scent, taste and feel of another woman. She is a giver and a receiver on every level. She is self-motivated and doesn’t require alcohol or any other extras to enjoy a sexual encounter with another woman. She is not pushed by her husband to be with another woman solely for his enjoyment. The only real difference between a truly bi-sexual woman and a true lesbian is that a bi-sexual woman also genuinely loves the touch, scent, taste, and feel of a man. All that said, to be bi-sexual doesn’t mean she’s willing to bang any girl that walks into a room.

Where the issue really gets complicated is the DEGREE to which a girl is bi-sexual. Is it a 50/50 thing? 60/40? 80/20? I play with FAR more girls than I do guys, but I don't feel like I'm anywhere close to being a lesbian. I can't necessarily say that I even enjoy playing with women more than men. But, I can say that I find more women that I'm attracted to and willing to play with in the lifestyle than men. I can also say that I'm not looking for a "relationship" with a woman at all and I don't think I ever would. I simply view my bi-sexuality, as nothing more than spice for myself and our marriage. The whole bi-sexual thing, like swinging in general, is far more complicated than a label.

I never really thought about the terms heterosexual and homosexual also implying that you are capable of falling in love with persons of a certain gender but I guess if you think about it , it's true . Until that was pointed out to me I thought bisexual woman only referred to a woman who can be sexually attracted to either a man or a woman. I say "can be" because I totally agree with the argument that just because I'm bi doesn't mean you can assume I'll do your wife lol . If I'm told a woman will "let me" play with her that kills the attraction for me right away , I want to feel like I'm being desired and enjoyed not endured lol. That woman is either not bisexual or just not attracted to me . Which reminds me ... sexysammy have you checked out my profile ? ;) As far as swingers go , it's really against the rules to fall in love with playmates ... period . So maybe we need to classify ourselves as bisensual and for those of us that are capable of truly loving either a man or a woman , save that definition for another site.

What do we consider bisexual? This is a good question. We do NOT consider Passive bisexual as bi sexual. The whole truth in a case like this is simple; Anyone woman saying that she is "Passive Bi" wants other women to Eat her Pussy but she "Refuses" to reciporcate. This could also be said for any male that says he is Passive Bi. Another man can suck his cock but he refuses to suck one in return.

To me bisexual is a person that likes both sexes. If you are a woman only looking for a woman and dislike men or if you are a man only looking for a man and dislike women then you are gay period.

omg, what a spaghetti bowl of semantics. My opinions as a self-identifying bisexual female?

TimnDeb have no F'ing clue. "bi-F wants ... but certainly not instead of a man!" wtf!? Yeah, if I dig a chick and she digs me, I want her instead of a man, ya heterocentrist post-shouter. No woman I'm into is a substitute for a man, she's an individual I want/love/lust after. Go read a book or attend a PFLAG meeting, fer cryin' out loud.

There's no "bi-decision". One is how one is, one wants what one wants.

and I'm also a bit perturbed at the idea that "if you don't eat at the Y, you're not really bi". Does that mean if you don't like to suck cock, you're not really bi, but a lesbian who's bi-curious? I answered that one in the "who doesn't like oral" topic. Not into oral with either gender, but that doesn't negate my sexual attraction or feelings of love for either gender.

And I totally agree with all those here who are irked by the assumption that "bi" means "I will totally do your wife for your entertainment even though she's not into and I don't find her attractive." really. Would some straight man want to go there with a lesbian couple? "Hi, will you do my wife to whom you're not attracted and who will just lay there, so I can watch and get turned on by the taboo novelty of het sex?" Puhleeze.

My two pence.
