"Every time someone other then YOU visits your page, we record it. If that same person views your page again that same day we do not count it again.
Each time YOU go to the page the counter goes to the table and counts each distinct hit to your site and tells me the SUM of hits for the last 90 days AS OF THAT SECOND! That is all it is. Nothing more, nothing less. Just a counter of distinct accounts looking at that profile per day for 90 days. " the question is: WHAT GOOD IS THAT? why is this useful? |

Is there some secret I am missing here? What do y'all DO with this data? I just now went and looked at the number for the first time ever.
I assume 85% of those are my husband perving pics of me while he's supposed to be working. 5% is me looking at our profile to decide if I need to make changes. The remaining 5% is poor folks who stumbled on us by accident. What behavior do y'all change based on the number of page views on any given day (or 90 days)? |

When the concept was "fixed" earlier this year to an ever rotating 90 day cycle, I understood it then and understand it now.
Think of it this way, every present day is the 90th day. If you go back to day 1, all of your profile views (unique hits, not just one user viewing your profile multiple times a day) from day 1 to day 90 are counted in that 90 day cycle. Days 0 and 91 are not. When the next day rolls around, your previous day 1, is now day 0. Your previous day 90, is now day 89. Present day, is always day 90, no matter what. |

Now it keeps the bragging members from telling us that they have been viewed 10,346 times since I changed my profile name when it was 56,397 and their post dropped from 156,000.

It does not reset every 90 days. Every day it drops off the hits from 90 days ago. It is always the number of visits the previous 90 days.
