We have been using the blocking tool to help keep our searches from being cluttered with people that we are not interested in and people that are not interested in us. We were wondering if it insulting or simply bad form on this site to use the blocking as a filter.

User Details are only visible to members.	Thanks Babe, we think we will be using the star method. We think we offended someone and really didn't want to do that. One never knows if interest may develope later.

Sure, some people may wonder why your name shows on their block list, and they have never exchanged a single e-mail with you. But it is just one of the tools available to make the site experience personalized to suit your preferences. Just please be aware, that the block is reciprocal; it takes one person to put the block in place, but both sides to remove it. So, even if you decide to unblock someone, they have no way of knowing, so their block is still in place. There is a star system, which places "ignore" feature on profile without applying permanent block. If you are not interested in seeing someone, just go to their profile and click on the star with the red X. That will remove the profile from view during searches. If, at a later time, you would like to see that profile again, you have to perform a search and uncheck the box that says "hide no interest". If the profile has been online within the last 30 days, it will show, and you can change the interest to, say, one star. That will put the profile back in view. Although some people do feel that being blocked is some kind of slap in the face, it only means that they need to stop taking this so personally. I mean, we are talking about being blocked by a complete stranger on the internet. Using blocking as a way to remove people from view might be looked at as maybe a little extreme, but do how you see fit. Star system (and it works, I checked that out on a local profile, although some said in the past it hadn't) is reversible, while blocking might not be. Hell, I know a couple, who told me, they blocked everyone in their town and immediate surrounding area for privacy reason.... So whatever works best for you.
