Perhaps this should have gone in the BF thread, but...
We have a couple that we've chatted with for a while and exchanged outside emails. They occasionally write to us saying we should get together, and did so recently. We just happened to have this Saturday free, so I asked about getting together and they are busy. Normally I'd say' "Yeah, short notice and all", but there never seems to be a time that we can get together with them. The other thing that happens and is annoying is when you make plans and then get the, "Family out of nowhere changed our plans". I mean, I get where family always comes first, but in an emergency. Our kids know to ASK us if we have plans, because if we have already made plans, we do not allow our kids to change them on a whim. It's not like we don't enjoy time with our kids, but we also enjoy time with our friends as well. Our cut is that we try to treat everyone's time as precious. While certainly not the end of the world when someone cancels last minute, it does suck when you forego other fun plans because you thought you had them, only to have someone blow that up at the last minute. Am I alone thinking this or do most people let their kids blow up their plans on a whim? As far as that couple goes, I'll likely tell them to reach out when they have a date when they can get together, because I'm done trying to set something up.
