I'll take a long well written profile any day over a bare minimum profile that says basically nothing about you. Maybe it is just me but as the one who handles all online communication I enjoy reading profiles that share some insight into "who" you are. I want to see the personality behind the person writing. 98% of the people who view our profile aren't actually going to "read " it ,1 % will whine it's too long and the other 1% are people who love our profile and based on it look forward to meeting us. The "lookers" we have no interest in, those that whined it was too long have saved us a lot of trouble ; It is that 1% we are looking for . The quickest way to assure we have no interest in you is to not be interesting! Mrs Sav

say it only once.
say it as briefly as possible.

people with ridiculously long profiles always say "everyone just loves our profile", but the fact is, we don't need to know EVERY DAMN THING about you before we can know if we might want to play with you. my god, save something to talk about when we actually meet.

"and you know we really like to..." "oh yeah, we read that in your profile."

ho hum.

and yes, i know compared to some, ours is ridiculously long. 8-p

I think that's an important point. When we look at a profile, we always look to see how long the couple/single has been on SLS. There's no right answer, of course. We're just looking for things that don't seem right. At a minimum, someone who has been on SLS for 9 years and still describes themselves as newbies should provide more information.

I'm a little confused. You've been on the site since 2002, but you're first paragraph states that you're looking for an "experienced couple who can guide us along more fully into this LS." If I came upon your profile, I would think that it must be your original profile from 2002 and it just hasn't been updated. This needs to be rewritten.

Each of your sections need to be shortened. Keep only the most pertinent information, but keep the friendly tone.

It's not just that it's long. It's too long because it keeps going over the same ground. It's a good start, but you need to edit it down by about 1/3 so it focuses on what's important.

A couple things jump out to us when we quickly read your profile tonight.

Missing any public photos of your husband :( Add at least one, alone or with you, to give others an idea about what you both look like. His picture is worth a thousand words.

Remove the name reference of that other swing site. Mentioning competitors is against site rules, as is your reference to Gmail.
