We HAVE met couples with no pics - and usually it's clear as to why. A few times it's been newbies who are just scared to death of someone recognizing them, and then it's been OK, but when people have no pics or extremely useless pics (like just a tattoo or an ankle or something) it suggests to me they have something to hide.

Okay, this may be a little off subject. But someone mentioned no guy pics means they are overweight.

What about the numerous profiles that do not have a weight listed for the female? To us, that means they are likely overweight as well.

Does anyone really beleive this site is secure and safe? Maybe being in IT means having to be concerned with security issues that just stay with me everywhere I go, but I simply will not put a face picture on a web-site (that I can't control), and definitely not when it's associated with a profile. If a web-site is online, it's not secure. Period. Things on-line also live forever. It's just the principle of the matter, I don't feel comfortable with it. And that brings out the accusations "why? what are you trying to hide?"... nothing at all. In fact, I'll gladly offer you my email address and Yahoo IM name. Heck, I'll even give you my phone number so you can call me. And I'll send you all the pics you want to see - directly to you. Email addresses can be had for free and anonymously, people can be blocked in chat (or email) just as easily as they can here. So in the end, you are absolutely NOT anymore "safe" hiding out here on this site (technically, it could be argued that you are less safe depending on how far you take it), and by being so afraid to give out an anonymouse email address that you could drop after one use if you really wanted to, that shows far more shady-ness than someone who won't put a picture on this site, IMNSHO. Ideally, this site could stand to be a little less primitive. There are other, less expensive, sites out there that allow attachments of pics from your hard drive in emails, and even do a double blind email delivery (you send to the "person", the site takes it, strips it of everything identifying, and re-sends it to the recipient, allowing them to click reply, but the 2 of you never see or find out each other's email address until you voluntarily place it in the body of the message). Hmmm... there must be a limit to the length of a post here. Let's try breaking it up, this is part 1 - Pics and play, what a contentious topic. To answer the OP, yes, there are profiles on here without pics that get genuine interest. I email them. Pics don't matter and can't be counted on for anything. What matters is chemistry, that is another word for attraction, and that's a combination of the body AND the mind, and overall compatibility. You can't get that from a pic, or an email, or even IMs. You can get a little from all of that, but nothing compares to actually just meeting people. Everyone's crazy busy, I know. But here's the thing, if you're too busy to take an hour to sit down and have a drink with someone, then you're too busy to find several hours to get naked and play with them too. (or your dance card is so full, one has to wonder why you'd even consider adding more) Pics only matter when the profile is non-existant. But with a well written profile, I seldom actually look at the pics. Some people can work the "myspace angles" and lighting and clothes and makeup, and everything else to present a false, idealized image, which will be a disappointment in person. Other people don't know how to do any of that and fail to do themselves any sort of justice at all with a camera. You have no way of knowing which they are - if the pics are current - if they are even of them at all - even if they are, you can't tell if they've just recently had a disfiguring accident. And pics also are devoid of voice, body language, manner of speech, and dynamic personality. Then we have words - profiles, emails, IMs.... words are approx. 7% of total communication. FAR too much is missing to develop a real connection in text in all but a few cases. So with pics being incomplete, and words being almost useless, it really makes no sense how snobbish people get regarding pics. Seriously. Open your minds, take a chance, and live a little, it won't kill you. Trying to fall in lust via text and pics is just a waste of time. Sure you want to know who you're meeting, I get it. But if they stun you with their pics first, won't that blind you to some potential incompatibility? Doesn't that mean just as much of a "waste" on the meeting night? Likewise, since attraction goes well beyond the physical, are we really so shallow as to dismiss people off-hand for having a less than ideal picture, even if the compatibility is there (in profile and emails)? (and again, that's assuming the pic actually has ANY accuracy or relevance at all - you won't know till you get in front of them anyway) (continued)

okay, reality, from a guy. no guy pics almost always means he's overweight. what? you thought we were falling for the "oh, he's just shy" b.s.? or the "we have to be discreet because of our jobs/friends/family" routine? come on, seriously. these sites make it very easy to disguise yourself. not saying i'm starving myself over here, i could stand to drop a few. but for god's sake guys, let's make an effort. you're missing out on so much fun because your hottie can't get any play, because my hottie doesn't want to be crushed by that 60lbs. of beer gut you're sporting. you send e-mail after e-mail, hoping someone will take a chance, sight unseen. or you actually put a pic or two on there, but you get no response at all because they don't want to hurt your feelings by pointing out the obvious. the solution: LIGHT BEER! yeah, i know. light beer is for sissys, right? okay, well, you keep that in mind the next time you're reading one of those "just not feeling an attraction here" responses.

We agree with that too...wedding pics aren't attractive to us on a swing site. And for us to post wedding pics would mean they would be over 4 years old, so we know that most people's wedding pics are prob. older than a year. We personally try to delete any photos of us that are over a year old. The exception for our profile is the cum-shot-tits pictures (I kind of like those still!). They're a bit over a year old, but not much. The only exception to that (wedding shots) would be cool wedding photos of people who married AFTER they hooked up. We have two couples that we know of who were swing partners, lived together, and are now recently married. Those pics are fine (of course, they're not dressed in traditional bridal garb either).

We have it clearly stated in our profile, in red, that someone must have face pics on this site and that SLS provides both private and personal galleries so there's no excuse. We even go on to state that a person does not have to open them until it seems there's a reasonable chance of playing (i.e., after we've chatted, corresponded, etc., to see if there's mutual interest). We're nutty about privacy too but it makes no sense to think that somebody would actually hook up without knowing if there's a physical attraction present first. We posted in another thread that we prefer to post nudes as our public pics because it makes it harder to identify us. Besides the facts that there aren't clothes to recognize, and our neighbors haven't seen us naked, we also paint-out the backgrounds to hide framed pictures, furniture, etc. We've even separated our personal galleries into those with face pics and those without and nearly half of those pics show our faces from various angles. There isn't a chance we'd meet with anyone without knowing what they look like first and we'll only consider viewing and sharing pics here where at least there's some protection. ~ Jen

I read one this evening and the whole profile was one long sentence, no punctuation at all.

We've chatted w/ people who've had no pics, and after a while, if they don't offer any pic, we just pretty much terminate the conversations. I'm polite, almost to a fault, but we're just not interested when someone wants access to our pics, yet has none of their own to offer. What have you got to hide? It seems deceptive.

Granted, most of us would want to see some type of picture before meeting or considering playing, but I have no problem striking up a conversation with someone based upon the profile. But I draw the line there -- if there are no pictures exchanged, either here in SLS or at an alternate site, we don't meet them, no matter how interesting our message exchanges have been. What I find impossible to fathom are the profiles that have no pictures, and are so sparingly and/or poorly worded as to tell virtually nothing about the person or couple. I read one this morning that was nearly impossible to understand due to the lack of capitalization & punctuation, and had poorly-chosen or outright wrong words, in addition to not having pictures. I was moved to write politely and suggest that their profile could use a little polishing if they were to expect to generate any interest in them based upon their profile. Nobody's perfect and nobody has the expectation that others be perfect. But, sheesh -- you should make an attempt to portray yourself in a way that readers can form some type of mental image of the type of person you are! It appears to me that a lot of people don't read what they've written before mashing the "Send" button. I like to go back and read as if I were someone else viewing my profile and see if it makes sense to someone reading the words for the first time. Not everyone is going to understand my rambling, but I make a sincere attempt to communicate my thoughts effectively. Too bad it doesn't compensate for my being a fat, ugly old guy... ;>)

hahaha, OR the ones where you see their entire face and they just blank out the eyes. Do they really have friends that are that dumb? I would hope my friends aren't that dumb lmao.
