Did it one time to a "couple" profile that was local. The profile was very negative, complaining that they "never" were able to meet anyone, yet, had only been on the site 2 or 3 months and had no pics up. Saw the next day they had changed their profile tag line to reflect the email that was sent. Oh well, live and learn. Personally, we are picky and try to invest in our profile since that's the first thing people see. Yes, we know we need a few more pics of him, but he hates the camera. As Nic said, we approve also and horribly spelled profiles get at least a "Needs Work" and many times get sent on to Profile Review if it's that bad. Even though we both understand enough Spanish to get by, anything other than English gets flagged. As a predominantly US site, it's expected for the text to be in English, just as if we were in Mexico, we'd expect Spanish.

In retrospect, I probably should have contacted the site about the profile and let them handle it. Very true, good intentions can lead to trouble.

Before we changed screen names we were approving profiles, this would have been a red flag. Oh well, live and learn.

Unsolicited advice? Nah. There have been a few times when a new couple has emailed us and had the male/female hieght/wieght/sexual orientation mixed up and we've let them know ~ but only after reading their profile and being sure that it was a mix up b/c hey, maybe he is bi, 5'2, 115 and she is straight, 6'2, 200. Wouldn't want to try to correct that one if it wasn't a mistake, ya know? ;)

We figure that new members are going to send out emails to people that they are interested in and those people will give them a heads up on any blatant mistakes.

I would probably only write to them if I was interested and maybe bring it up after getting to know them. I'm sure you had good intentions but we all know, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions".

As a lifetime member who approves profiles, I'm surprised that got through. I would not have approved it if it was as bad as you say. I would have recommended it be reviewed so customer service could help them clean it up.

Have you ever offered unsolicited advice to someone about their profile? I have mailed many new people when they have the male and female stats reversed. We made the same mistake when we first signed up and I appreciated the heads up. Last night, I read a profile with the worst spelling and grammar I have ever seen in a profile. I sent an email, I was as diplomatic as any person could be. I apologized if they thought I was slamming their profile, I wanted to make sure it was not personal etc. I simply told them, there is a spell check feature and it might help them attracting people. Well, we received a response..........we were told English was not their first language (no mention of that in the profile), they did not like us telling them this and they were glad they were not meeting us. They told us we were too picky (actually, it was pi qui). My question is: Would you send an email to someone letting them know their profile is incredibly hard to understand?
