But it is worth pointing out that this thread is probably the most literate one we've seen on SLS.

If something is important to you it isn't "small stuff' How other people define small is irrevelant . The tools you use to seek others are your own and if they work for you that's what matters. Our style might not be the same as anyone elses and things I would reject someone based on might in fact be their best quality as far as someone else is concerned. The world is full of diversity, diverse preferences, opinions and attractions and that's what makes life interesting.

For us, how a profile is written is indicative of numerous things concerning the person or couple. So, to answer the OP's question, absolutely. In this lifestyle, even the little details matter, especially where discretion is necessary. When your job could be on the line, there's no such thing as small stuff.

Yeah, I do sweat the small stuff. A poorly written profile is a definite turn off here. Someone once asked if we majored in English after reading ours (No, we didn't, we just put a lot of time and effort into it). But there is another often missed aspect of the profile. And that is the order that the pictures are presented. It bugs me to see a profile and to the left are all empty boxes where the pictures should be. And then you have to click on More Pictures to see the publicly available photos. When you're tinkering with the pics, change the sort order and put the public pictures at the top. This way the first six are viewable without having to go through the galleries. And if you're real nice, you'll have pictures of both halves of the couple within those first six. But yeah... chat speak, grammatical errors, blatant spelling errors... ugh.

Pics are without a doubt the most important part of a profile. Great pics are always going to get you more contacts. At the same time though, I don't care how sexy the pics are or how hot the people are because if the background of the pics is an absolute mess (dirty laundry, junk, etc) or if the profile reads like a 3 year old wrote it, then we're still probably going to skip it. We have had to ease up a bit on the written part of profiles though since moving to SoCal since English is a 2nd language to many of the people living here. It can be tricky at times trying to determine whether the profile was written by a moron or if it's simply a language barrier. lol.

We have had conversations with several couples who have openly stated that they form their first and more often than not, last impression based solely upon the pics in the profile, regardless of what is written in the profile.

The sexier the pics are of the woman, the more the profile will get inquiries.

I confess to being very critical of both profiles and the emails we receive but that's a different topic lol. I do make assumptions based on how the profile is written, their use of spell check as well as the formation of understandable sentences. Capitalization of words is a big one for me. It just drives me crazy to see the word I written in lower case font.......never mind when the whole profile reads that way. Negativity of any kind is an absolute no-no , keep your drama and bad experiences to yourselves. I think the use of swear words is inappropriate and if you can refrain from using them in general conversation we're probably not a good match. We swear now and again ourselves but general it is related to pain or frustration. Excessive graphic detail of what you want to do to who or see done. Save something for the imagination. Your preferences can be clearly stated without making it read like a 10 cent porn novel. This of course is only my opinion and what I look for in a profile and I am sure many will disagree with me but to each his own. Bragging is a definite turn off. Let your skills speak for themselves when the time arises. How good you are at any sexual act can only be determined by each individual partner. Everyone's ideal of excellent varies . On the same note as bragging comments like "I can take you where you've never been" . This is especially true for singles looking to play with couples. Never ever ever imply that what you offer is better than what she/he can get at home. HUGE No-No. We find that insulting and you will be immediately dismissed. Photos need to include at least one whole body shot. Faceless is fine but if all you show me is feet or cleavage or you butt I assume the worst about the rest of you and if nothing else I assume that YOU lack confidence in yourself. Stop hiding people, celebrate who you are no matter what shape or size. Honesty in age, height and weight, seriously if you lie do you think when you meet someone they're going to not notice you lied? Trust me no personality is going to dazzle me if I see your lying. He says about her /she says about him, I don't think it is necessary to include that line. If you are creating a couples profile speak as a couple. I think it is better to say simply "he is charming" ," she is intelligent" and "we are ....whatever. You're not writing a play with characters so do make it read like one. Last but not least I really don't need to read how hot you think you are, pictures are worth a 1000's words. I'll be the judge thank you very much ! Your profile is life a job application where the details matter. You have one chance to make a first impression so you best put your best self forward. Take the time to read other profiles before creating your own. Make notes of how they are written and what you liked about them and than translate that into who you are for your own profile. Should you find a match and agree to meet keep this same philosophy in mind. It isn't really a date it's an interview that can lead to a date but the job isn't yours just because you applied and showed up. Dress nice, wear clear clothes, shave if you don't normally wear a beard, shower and smell nice ( you'd think those things we're a given but you'd be surprised lol. If your lucky your first meeting and date can happen in the same night but first you have to make it through the screening process. Now than for all that I've said, you're probably wondering how we ever meet anyone lol. We have had great success meeting wonderful people from all over the USA and we have never ever met a nutcase, no weirdos and haven't really experienced any drama. We don't always "click" with those we meet of course but that doesn't mean they weren't wonderful people. Mrs Sav
