I just tell them that I am single and sexually active. If they do not get it I say. Some would put me in a high risk category. If they ask about a BF I say I am in an open type relationship. That way the DR are more willing to run a few tests.

I have to say that I am in health care and would not tell my gyn that I am in the lifestyle. first, it truly plays no role in how the doctor should be treating you. As long as you are having you regular exams and paps you should be fine. If you have a specific concern then I would tell the doc about the concern and not the story behind the concern...it is not relevant.
Additionally, I just applied for life insurance policies which review all of you medical records to determine you eligibility. I surely do not want something like the lifestyle being written my medical chart for others to review and judge me. Just food for thought. |

Believe us, we'd both acknowledge it if any physician needed to know. Going in to get your cholesterol checked, etc. doesn't require that a doc has more personal information.

She,
That is how I feel. I see no need to tell the doctor, just because he is my doctor. Now if there is something I need treatment for and it is beneficial for the doctor to know then I would tell him. Carrie |

The Drs arent as bad as their receptionists and nurses. If you ever sit in a waiting room for more than 30 minutes, you know what I mean.
Unless I have an issue I feel that needs looking after. It is none of anyone's business. |

Sorry, bifem. I disagree. I know lots of doctors that will not have people as patients based on their lifestyle, religious beliefs, sexual preferences, etc. They are not more interested in treating the patient. A lot of these doctors are also blabber mouths. They may not mention your name but in small communities, it isn't hard to figure out who they are talking about.

Shelikes' response is a gem. I know what my Gyno is into, so I don't think he'd be floored. To the point of another post- there are people in that office that DON't need to know.

Hey ; ) I'm well. Thanks for asking. I spent the last year back on the vanilla side of life. (I know, who knew, right? lol It wasn't too bad though because he was 26 and wild! LOL! Enough of that, though. I'm back where I belong lol.
