Hey, has anyone tried Sensa? At 4am this morning they had me convinced to try it.

User Details are only visible to members.	The problem with that person was he/she was doing too much cardio. Resistance training, with the correct diet, will allow you to lose fat while increasing muscle. During cardio sessions, especially without fast acting proteins, you will have the problem catabolism, and you will lose muscle tissue. The opposite effect happens with weight training...the body goes anabolic. During cardio, you only lose fat while working out. With weight training, you lose fat while you're sleeping. I think the bottom line is that most people do it wrong. You are correct however that there are no gimmicks. Only singular focus and will power to workout out correctly, and view food as fuel, rather than an indulgence.

FYI - One of my clients that has indeed lived for 6 months as you described, but did nothing but cardio five days a week, indeed lost weight and gained literally no muscle growth. I would not suggest this to anyone. Metabolism works much harder at maintaining lean muscle tissue than fat.

User Details are only visible to members.	Boston, My answer was designed as simple as possible in response to a question of yet another gimmick that is out on the market. In my professional experience, the average person will not follow your great advise. It's just too much dedication and too complicated for many. As a nationally certified PT, I can and have manipulated my body weight in various ways, including the controversial calorie cycling. The point of my post was this, no pills, no powders the curb your appetite, no stupid gimmicks will help you drop weight unless you do it the right way, the proven way, the way that works and most promising in keeping it off. At the end of the day however, it can only happen when one desires and is ready to work at dropping and keeping the weight off.

User Details are only visible to members.	I completely disagree about needing a calorie deficient diet to lose weight. Granted, I'm a man, and I'm an attorney by trade... but I fancy myself as a bit of a nutrionalist. The best diets do NOT lower your calories, but instead using high quality calories and rely on timing to use certain types of food. In fact, you can increase your metabolism without ANY exercise simply by moving more of your calories from carbs to proteins, only use complex carbs (brown rice, quinoa, sweet potato and oatmeal), and don't allow the consumption of any carbs after 5:00pm. Doing that alone with provide a metabolic boost that is almost equal to an hour of vigorous exercise. Fat consumption should be timed so that most of those come in the early morning. Also spread your meals around so that you're eating almost every two hours. Proteins should come in the form of lean meats and fish. Snacks should come in the form of high quality nuts (almonds and walnuts), fruit, vegetables and yogurt. If you have a diet like this, even eating more calories can result in fat loss. Also, keep in mind that weight loss does not equal fat loss. In order to know if you're going in the right direction, get a body fat meter and take tape measurements of your body (waist, chest, arms, thighs, etc.) on a monthly basis. Then make corrections as needed. The truth is that you will lose water weight first, then muscle and last will be fat. If you eat a higher quality, increased protein diet, combined with moderate resistant training (yes for women too), then your body will lose fat over muscle. Then you'll have a more toned body. A caloric deficient diet actually lowers your metabolism as your body goes into starvation mode. You'll feel lousy and you'll put on the pounds again when your diet is over. Bad idea IMO.
