User Details are only visible to members.	Southern, A woman's choice to have a hysterectomy is very personal and she usually received lots of information. What is not freely given, are the many side effects from having one. TAH-BSO which is what you will be having is basically the same as a man having his testicles and prostate removed. So you can imagine the symptoms of no estrogen and testosterone. You will be slammed into surgical menopause pretty much immediately. I agree, get on the patch or some kind of hormone quickly. However, remember that estrogen does not work alone. We need Testosterone to be in balance with estrogen. Imagine a car with the oil but no gas. No matter how long, how hard you push on the gas pedal (clit) or how much you wish the car would go, it won't. It has no gas (testosterone). Please do NOT let your doctor try to convince you that you do not need testosterone. It's simply not true. So, I recommend getting Estrogen and Testosterone in the form of creams, gels, troches, sublinguals or pellets as soon as you are healed and are able. Take care of yourself, let your family and friends pamper you and do for you. You are having major surgery that will take time to heal and you need plenty of rest and support. So I have read most of the replies, I have had horrible periods, and this past May my gyno did the ablation, which did not help at all, I continued to have my periods as normal, she said I was the one in a million and should be playing the lottery....lol...so I am scheduled for a full hysterectomy next week, I am fine with everything being taken, and I will have a patch on before I leave the hospital, I think I will eventually go towards the bio-identical, my main concern is that sex will change, I know it all is supposed to be mental, but we have always had a great sex life, and if anything seems to change I will really be pissed!

User Details are only visible to members.	Well I got to choose my partial hysterectomy years ago because of another physical problem in that area... It was the BEST thing I ever did... Not sure how things would be different if I had ovaries removed but I luved not having the PMS anymore... Not sure on the sex cuz did not have a good marriage then....

This is a good subject and a good way to weed out about love/sex/times of abstainance and times of reconnection. Thanks. i understand now why sometimes my husband is very gentle with his approaches; it's out of respect for whatever weird thing I'm going through, or have been through, not out of lack of desire for me. We talked about this extensively after my mom and one of my best friend's died. I kind of pulled away a bit, as he did also when his mom died. It's self protection: you don't want to think about also losing the very person who means the most to you, so you pull away a bit. We understood that with each other. The strange thing about that is that that's when I need sex/touch/desire the most but didn't, at the time, know how to express that. Now I do. And now I'm not afraid to. Gina

Leaving your ovaries allowed you to continue to enjoy the many benefits of estrogen and testosterone. It sounds like you had a great doctor that was experienced in sparing the nerves. Many times, even though the ovaries are left in, there is nerve damage and they don't function well and quit producing E and T. You are one of the lucky ones. I'm glad I had the hyst too. I just wish doctors were better about recognizing the need for Testosterone as well as Estrogen. I might have avoided a 16 year period of of getting old and not caring about sex. Thank goodness that time is over!

User Details are only visible to members.	Well Hump, I must share this with you. Many years ago my brother-in-law's (then) wife died of MS. As the story came out to Bacchus and I while helping the immediate and long term grief, he hadn't touched her in several years. Not her wiliness, his was the issue. However, the last couple years of her life, he touched someone else. She died, he did really love her, poof!!! he spent the next few years impotent. Funny how life works.

User Details are only visible to members.	I had a partial hysterectomy to get back to the subject. It did not change my sex drive, did not change sex with my husband (or others). Every now and then, since I kept the ovaries, there is a small and I mean small amount of discomfort. The size of a pin head tiny. I asked the hubby after the first time if it felt any different to him, he said no. I believe some women get it in there head they are no longer a woman. I am a better woman. I can fuck ANYTIME I want. I can travel anytime I want. I can sleep through the night. I don't need to pass on a good date night. It is the best thing I ever did for myself. I am still horny all the fucking time. What it didn't do was get rid of that little poof of a stomach from when I was pregnant. PBLTH. Again, no regrets at all, best thing I ever did. Best of luck with it!

For 11 years she fought a battle with breast and ovarian cancer until she passed away in 2005. After she was diagnosed, life became about HER, not him and certainly not his sex drive. Especially the last couple years when every month they did something special if she was able. Friends came to visit. If she was feeling ok, they took trips. Life was about her and making the last years of her life the best they could be. (Now you might have an idea why I love him so much). I have absolutely no respect for any human that treats with such selfish regard, the person they supposedly love and made vows to. If one needs a release, masturbate.
