Ladies do you tell yourgynecologist you swing when you have your regular exams? And what is a typical reaction from the gynecologist? I have been discussing it with some girlfriends and just want to hear more.

User Details are only visible to members.	I'm glad to see that we are all fairly honest with our doctors. As someone mentioned, they have to know about your life in order to give you the best care possible. I actually go to planned parenthood (they take my insurance) because I used them once before I had insurance and really loved the care there. They are completely non-judgemental. Luckily, I filled out a survey that clued them in instead of having to actually answer questions...but they never uttered a peep. Just made sure I knew about the risks and precautions I should take.

I was taken aback by her rant at first, but I was also amused, because she hadn't yet spoken to the doctor, who had been very accepting of everything I'd said. My reaction to her rant about promiscuity was to say "well now, if I agreed with you, I wouldn't be doing it, would I?". Very quiet and very direct. I have no problem being direct either in anger or not. But I KNEW that the doc was going to set her straight, and she's HIS employee. Sounds like you found a good doc. I just found a great GP, and wouldn't you know, he's not on my health care's roster. I may continue going to him regardless for the time being - he not only accepted the lifestyle, my appointment ended up being an hour because he wanted to talk about our trip on the ocean liner! lol S

User Details are only visible to members.	Kind of both, lol. She "tried" to scold me for being promiscuous. When she found out I don't see it that way, she quieted down. By that time, I wasn't sure whether to be amused or pissed off about her reaction. When she came back in the room, she made some suggestions on the tests I should have which were extremely helpful, so I suspect the doc may have said something to her. She DID say, on our way out of the exam room, that she just couldn't picture me with multiple partners (so should I have been insulted at that, or glad that I don't have a scarlet S on my forehead? rofl). S

In Virginia, I had a wonderful ObGyn who had a multiple page questionaire, which had questions on it I know were designed for non-monagamous couples, since they alluded to bisexuality, as well as multiple partners. I answered all the questions truthfully. At the first appointment, he brings you into a private office and you "chat". His first question was "are you a swinger". When I answered that one "yes", he went on to give me a myriad of information that was quite helpful. I've never gotten any reaction up here from the doctor I've got now, but his nurse practitioner was very vocal at one point when I asked for a full battery of tests because of allergies I'm developing to flavored/colored lubes and latex. S

User Details are only visible to members.	When we began swinging I told my nurse practitioner. She's always made me feel very comfortable so I asked her about birth control. At that point she asked if my chart was wrong since it said Matt had had a vasectomy. I told her no, that was right, but we weren't monagamous. Then she asked if we were separating and I explained that we do it together, with each other's permission. She said, "oh, like a swinger's club?" Yes. So after that she put me on the pill, explaining how unreliable condoms can be. Said I should still always use them with other partners and then went on to tell me different signs to look on other males, or females, when going down on them to avoid any unwanted diseases. She also reminded me to use plenty of lube on any toys we used, LOL. After that she told me if I ever wanted to come in to get tested for anything, besides during my normal yearly when we'd run everything, I'd simply need to call and ask for a pelvic exam and she'd know what I needed. All this was way comfortable until we were in church one day and I saw her there. Somehow that just makes things a little weird. At my appointments tho, she's nothing but professional and warm towards me. Melissa

User Details are only visible to members.	My gyn doesn't know, but my primary care doctor does, and she does all my routine physicals now. I didn't tell her we swing, I just said that "we're not necessarily monagmous". She didn't react one way or another, other than to remind me to always use condoms and suggest the Hep B vaccine series. I've been going to her for years, and we have a very good relationship. I wouldn't tell my gyn, because it's a large practice and who only knows what information gets shared- despite the HIPPA laws, I don't trust my personal information there. Now that I'm done having kids, I don't even really need to see them unless something comes up that my primary can't handle. I'm glad I told my doctor- I think it's important to my health. L.

User Details are only visible to members.	When I switched from my male family doctor to a female gynecologist for my yearly exams, I told her that we swing. She didn't bat an eyelash, just stated that we had to use condoms and get tested for STD's periodically. We also discussed birth control options. It was a very hard for me to tell her, but after I did I was so glad, because she was so cool about it. Our health was her biggest concern.

User Details are only visible to members.	I just relocated for good to the Johnstown area, and have all new doctors, so no, until I gain the trust, especially with my new gyny, I feel no need to discuss it. I just had the "works" done, and I am healthy. Jan
