You were right either way; if you went in understanding certain boundaries and wanted those to stay - for whatever reason (avoid drama, not comfortable, etc.) then it was a good decision for you. On the other hand, if you had been comfortable changing boundaries - it happens all the time - then it really isn't your issue if they have issues. Since you said they were a new to LS couple, what you say is fairly common. Couples that have been in the LS for awhile tend to have settled in to their boundaries. For us, its been many years since changing our rules, we're settled in to what we enjoy. Many couples avoid newbies, you might consider the pros and cons yourself. We do not avoid newbies, but we do go in with an understanding that new LS couples are, after all, new and often evolving. This means higher risk for drama, so we just try to be user friendly and have generally found things go well. It sounds to us like you have a good handle on it and made the right decision for you. Our advice - no need to second guess, just keep trusting yourself.

You never want to cause a fight or be a regret Maybe everything was hotter than they expected. But that's their fault for underestimating you!
