TOPIC: What Do You Think About Answering Email

It's a shame that so many people don't have the courtesy to respond when you write to them. I personally feel flattered when some one takes the time to write to us. Answering is just the right thing to do. Are these people just Royally Stuck On Themselves ? Are they just rude ? Or are they just ignorant and don't know that it's common courtesy to be respectful and reply to those who knowledge them ? Believe it or not but people in our immediate area will not respond but someone 200 miles away will. What's up with that ? How do others feel about this ? Are their others that find themselves in the same situation ?

User Details are only visible to members.	"Miss Manners does notice that even your profile states you respond to all emails." Our profile states that we answer all emails, and yes, we do answer all emails. We don't get upset though, if we send and email to a profile and don't get a response.

User Details are only visible to members.	There are several threads on SLS about folks who don't answer emails. We try to answer all that come to us. We have slipped, waiting to know our work schedules for example and then other issues took priority and we just forgot about an unanswered email on SLS. I can tell you in that case we apologized profusely. We pride ourselves on being good communicators. We sent a second email a week later to a couple who didn't answer, and they came back to us similarly. As we've stated before, one email no answer; who knows... Two emails and no answer; well there's your answer. Of course then you see that couple at a party and they hit on you, not even remembering who you are!

Our boy is a Marine and one of those fighting so someone can have there hole or anything else surrounded by ass as previously stated in this forum. More than anything...we apperciate it when someone acknowledges that our kids are fighting and dying for us everyday. It makes the rest of this stuff really not matter. Semper Fi.

For those who are respectful and respond or those that acknowledge that it's the favorable thing to do; thank you. I guess in todays society it is unreasonable to expect everyone to have the same understanding, values and integrity. My apologies. I can say I found a subject that drew a lot of interest and feedback. Thanks to all of you who wrote....those who agreed and those who disagreed. It was nice hearing from everyone who took the time to post something. Now get nekkid and forget about it. It's not worth getting heartburn over.

Dumb question: How come some emails sit "unread" forever? Wouldn't the little birdie be flapping it's wings for an eternity?

User Details are only visible to members.	I used to get upset if I wrote someone and they opened the mail and didn't respond, now I just worked out my own system. If I send someone a message, I give them a month to respond. The thought process is that there's a good chance they will be back online in a month's time. If after that time I see them online and they still haven't responded, I just leave myself a note on their profile that they aren't interested. If some time later down the road, they contact me, interested in meeting...I can always change the note.

User Details are only visible to members.	We're not going to say anyone is rude if they don't reply, and there are lots of reasons why they may not. We do however reply to all emails. That's just us. Got one yesterday from a free member, pics of her but not of him, that just said, "Want to meet?". We sent a polite not interested reply. And, they obviously didn't read our profile because right up front in the what we are looking for section it says, "Enjoy intelligent conversation and love to laugh. We do want to get to know you. And that starts when you send us an email - we hope it tells us something about you and that you've read our profile, and we hope it links to a profile that tells us more about you. Maybe we'll exchange some emails or chats; we think stimulating conversation can lead to other stimulations." A "Want to meet?" email does not meet that criteria. So I guess they didn't read our profile or if they did, they didn't understand it. But we still feel it's appropriate to reply. It did sit in our inbox a bit because it's certainly not a priority to spend time on the response. There's my 2 cents...!
