| Here's something that has always bugged me. Perhaps someone can clarify this. At one time we were regular club attendees. The club met at a hotel for dancing and 'socializing'. After the dance I would often find people leaving their room doors either partway or completely open. Often people were playing together in the rooms with the open or semi-open doors. Not wanting to be pushy by any means, I simply walked on and considered it an 'oops'. Now I'm wondering if perhaps leaving the doors open constituted an implied invitation to join in the fun? |

If someone leaves the door open they are certainly inviting voyeurs at the very least, and it would not be out of bounds at all to inquire politely if they are interested in more company. You don't walk in without asking, however.
Nor is it ever polite to bang on a closed door. |

Depends on the club with that. The one club we go to the open door means come in and watch but ask to join... They have doors that have sections if the top half is open and bottom is closed that mean don't bother us just watch if you like. If the door is closed it means do not disturb...

I loved the feeling of them watching outdide of the door, but unless you are asked to join , no you can't just walk in.

Any club we ever attend that is an on premise gig is open door invites. Ask first of coarse but they want joiners.

We attend an event in Niagara Falls each year that is a complete hotel take over. It's the norm there for people that enjoy being watched by others and people that enjoy "semi" anonymous partners at this week long event to keep their doors open.
