Original Starting post for this thread:
I'll try and make this as short and sweet as possible. Do you feel as though two people, who are incompatible sexually, can make a relationship work? It's not so much about libido as it is one partner has an insatiable curiosity about all things sex, and the other is rather vanilla? Your thoughts and comments are appreciated. Thanks!

Your SO may be like I was two years ago. Its not that I objected to sexual exploration, its simply that I was programmed from puberty that anything other then monogamy is cheating and you don't go around having sex with people you don't love. I saw his interest in swinging as an insult to me and a sign of dissatisfaction on his part with our marriage. Once I was sure he loved me and only me and it was just fun sex not a "replacement plan" I dove in with both feet and I have to say, our personal alone-time sex hasn't been this great since we were 18! So if you think there's a chance you can convert her, go for it, but slowwwly.

trying to make a relationship like this work makes me think of Woody Allen's comment on the biblical passage that talks about "and the Lion will lie down with the lamb."

Said Woody, "yes, but one of them won't get much sleep."

Hey, it's English. You can verb any words you want to.

You're welcome to it Outdoors - in fact, you can even have title to it ;)

It's all part of the recent trend toward the verbification of the English language. Personally I blame the introduction of "disrespect" as a verb for causing it.

"...it is probably either a deal breaker or a relationship miserablizer. Yes, I just made up that word."

Wow, that is a great word. It's even fun to say it! Thanks, and hope you don't mind if I adopt it.

Don't make assumptions. He might be the vanilla one. I have a friend that happened to - she was the wild one, he was not interested.

Didn't work out there either and they divorced. Sex is so important that if you are not compatible there, it is probably either a deal breaker or a relationship miserablizer. Yes, I just made up that word.

However the advice to set a time limit on the exploration is a sound one.

Good luck!

It sounds to me like he wants to swing and she wants nothing to do with it. My advice to that is give it up and stop watching so much porn or she's going to dump your butt.

They might be able to make it work but I doubt they would be happy.

Hmmmm......possibly. But sex is such an integral part of a relationship. A professional counselor should be employed.
