Hi All-- I'd appreciate your opinions. Last week I met and played with a couple with a lovely and very enthusiastic wife. By all accounts, they are experienced swingers and have been on SLS for a few years.
But the husband was a real jerk. Even at our initial meeting in a public venue, he liked to preface some pretty offensive opinions about politics and people with "I'm old enough to say what I want, and here's what I want to say." I try to keep my political and other opinions to myself in settings like this, and I'm pretty good about not reacting or taking some jerk's bait, so we went home and played. But then afterward, he started this nonsense again and when I gently suggested that he consider other points of view, he went after me personally and clearly wasn't trying to listen or talk, but just to be a bully and started calling me disparaging names. Fortunately, he and I decided at the same time that the evening was over, and I managed to withdraw with as much dignity as a naked and spent guy can. He really embarrassed his wife, who left the room just before I did after asking him repeatedly to quit being a jerk. I found her in the living room, not crying, but really embarrassed and frustrated. She walked me to my car and we said goodbye. I even apologized to her for annoying her husband, but honestly he was just being a jerk and I think what frustrated him was my refusal to take his bait. So with all that, any advice on this? To me, it's just really stupid to get into discussions about politics or religion when you're busy trying to have sex. Seriously, WTF?
