Original Starting post for this thread:
I've just really noticed how some couples have been on SLS for years and have few to NO certifications, should this be a red-flag ?

For us it's part of the whole picture.

A couple needs some of the following for us: Certs (something to verify they are real) Pics Somewhat thought out profile Up to date profile (IE: been on for years but still mentions being new or a tag line that references something way outdated like winter when it's June)

Agree with TomandDiane. We neither seek nor reject certs, and don't need a play by play account of how awesome we are. :)). Certs basically tell us that a couple is for real, and that's about it. We appreciate a compliment and freely give them, but having or not having a cert isn't really relevant to us when checking out a profile.

We tend to agree along the lines with "She'ssmooth". While we respect others who don't want certs, we feel that having certs, especially recent ones gives your profile more credibility. There are more than a few fakes/wannabees on SLS. We also like to keep certs on the mellow side. Don't need a blow by blow description of what went on.

not all certs are kiss and tell. we have certs from a few people we met but didnt play with.

We don't fault anyone for wanting to keep who they play with private, but we don't consider certs as "kissing and telling" since a cert doesn't happen unless both parties are in agreement.

We're not interested in certs that get specific about play, or other graphic details.

Personally certs don't mean much. We do look at certs because we determine if their taste in play partners is similar to ours. If their standards are too low then we have been known to pass on a couple. For ourselves we have one general cert of a nice couple that hosted a party. We avoid certs from play partners because we don't want to kiss and tell. It does not bother us if a profile does not have certs. They will either respond to us and want to meet or not.

bns, did you send a cert to the people you played with? that may help. If they are free members they can't send certify, so that may also be one of the reasons.

we've posted this a couple of times so apologies to those who have read it before, but for us, certs serve a specific purpose. we do not worry much about what someone said about the couple because people don't typically write derogatory certs and if they did, the recipient would obviously not accept them. or, at least one wouldn't think so.

however, if we're just surfing profiles and a couple has certs, we always look at them because we want to see what these people typically look for in playmates. sometimes you learn something, sometimes you don't.

I realize that the OP is asking specifically about couples, but I'm looking for a little clarification if I may.

Bill, you wrote..."Don't forget to look who sent them and how far away from the original people they are."

As someone who both travels and meets/hosts those who travel here, can you explain what you mean? Honestly, I'm not looking to pick a fight. I'd just like a better understanding of what a "certer's" distance from a "certee" says about either's potential legitimacy as a couple?

Thanks,

BT

We've been on here more than a year - we've been to parties, meet & greets - we've met flakes - fakes - and some very nice people - we have even had sex with some of the people we have met on here. But ... for whatever reason, they have chosen not to leave a certification. We don't read too much into that - we're as real as we can be (via the internet)- we're as honest as we can be (sometimes too honest) - but we have no control over something like that ... but ... we do wish sometimes that they had an "Asshole" button you could click. We think that would be more of a help than the cert feature ... JMO.
