TOPIC: A white lie

I was born in 1950, my lady 1970. Together we are contemporaries. I look, act, perform (lol) as if I am late 30's early 40's. I have never had a major medical issue, could still go a few rounds if the bell rings. After we meet people the usual reaction is "damn you're really 55 ???". This is after explaining their initial reservations at meeting with a couple with an "old guy". Would lying about age be an acceptable white lie in a swing profile ??

User Details are only visible to members.	We have the same problem. However, don't lie and just allow it to weed out the people that are narrow minded. Mr. Sim is 56 and about a year ago I did an experiment and put his age down at 45 for two weeks to see if age does make a difference. I didn't tell Mr. Sim and a few days went by and Mr. Sim said "Man, we sure have been swamped with a lot of emails lately." Our emails shot up 10 fold. I couldn't believe it. Apparently, when many people are checking out "who's on"...when they see the age they won't even open the profile.

If you have to lie about your age to play with someone or catch their interest are they really people that you want to meet anyway? I know for us if someone can't accept us for who we are then they aren't someone that we want to associate ourselves with. Why lie about who you are to attract someone? Z

User Details are only visible to members.	A white lie is the one where we are cordial and do things to prevent unnecessarily hurting ones feelings or make a situation unnecessarily tense or hostile. EXAMPLES: 1. Your Mom gets her hair done, it looks terrible and the first time you see it is at a wedding or large family event where it is too late to do anything about it. So you (and everyone else) compliment her hair so she is not distracted or embarrassed by it. 2. A family member or close friend you love, who has always struggled with weight comes to a family picnic. The relative has obviously gained more weight, but many of us, compliment the person, asking them if they have lost weight. Both of these are white lies - but positive reinforcement/comments often times works better then a direct comment or constructive criticism. Getting back to posting your age, in our opinion that would be a major lie to post anything that is not your correct age. I just turned 50 and many couples turn us down because of my age. It is a fact of life and although it can hurt, I accept it and move on. What my wife and I have found funny, is many times we meet in person, at parties or dances, those that turned us down through the internet. After meeting us in person, they can not believe I am 50 and she is 44. It seems then, they want to party with us, which gives us the chance to politely turn them down or give them another chance. Be honest in your profiles. With today's knowledge of health, vitamins, and exercise many of us stay and look much younger then our actual years. Those that do not wish to play with someone because of age have that prerogative and I respect them for their limits or standards. We all have those. Last, if someone gets caught lying about age, you always wonder what else they might be lying about. That does not make for a good relationship, whether a one night fling or a long term friendship.

I have lost alot of respect for a particular couple on here, who have made, and remade their profile numerous times, because they insist on listing his age WAY beneath what it actually is, and he is not a "young" whatever. When I found out he lied about that, it ruined my good opinion of them.

User Details are only visible to members.	The truth is best...we met with a couple who said she was 42 and he was 58. He turned out to be 72. I must admit he was in great shape but I prefer me who do not have children older than me.

User Details are only visible to members.	My husband and I have a similar situation. He's 47, and looks 35, and no one believes him when he states his age. We are honest about it on the profile. And we decided not to mention that he doesn't look his age, because we didn't want to send everyone back up to check the age. We do have a picture of him up with just the eyes blacked out, to show he's not exactly falling apart at the seams. We are very honest - probably to a fault, but that's our boundary to not engage in dishonest interactions.
