"nitrobenzine" I sometimes wonder about my time in the lab. Nitrobenzene is very reactive. We used to wash our hands in benzene...to get the chemicals off. Sigh. All I know is I'm amazed to be alive at this point. There have been a ton of things that could bite me in the ass. I missed the HIV onslaught by the skin of my teeth. All too often people think because a Doctor said something it must be gospel. I do a background investigation on any Doctor I see. I'm pretty sure we all have some type of hpv. I get planters warts on my feet occasionally, that's caused by hpv. I've had it for 25 years.

HPV comes in many different forms. I think there are at least 30 varieties. Some cause planters warts, some cause gentile warts, some are a precursor to cervical cancer. Everythign i've read about hpv says it's about as common as the flu virus.

So I wouldnt' worry to much about it unless you have gentile warts.

Mischief, my last post was not directed at you. You are knowledgeable and know the facts. It does seem some folks posting are confused about the different alphabet soups of letter combinations. To clarify the point I was trying to make is if a person knows they have a certain virus (HPV in this case) then they would have an obligation to inform potential partners. If two people who both have HPV chose to get together then they would be matched. We both know this is rarely the case. Some folks stay silent about what they might have out of fear they will never have sex again. In 42 years of sexual activity I have never been asked about any status. HPV and HSV. I behave in a protective manner regardless of their stated status. It's the only smart way to play.

Question? How many time have potential playmates asked you about YOUR status. I've had one vanilla guy ask in all these years.

Ok I am confused. The OP was about HPV which is the virus that causes genital warts not Herpes. Herpes is caused by HSV1 & HSV2. Regardless you have an obligation to inform potental partners of your status. I have seen profiles that state a person has herpes. If your potental partner has HPV as well then you could be a match. I do suspect the field will become very limited.

Shell: That poster deleted his message. Here's the rub. Let's say someone tells you they have herpes orally.. That is an oral cold sore. Does that count? To me it does, but somewhere along about 90% of the population has them. So even if they say no, have never had an outbreak...that's all they can say. The statistics say that they have it. I operate from the position that all have herpes. Oral or genital doesn't matter to me. I still practice the same safer sex behavior, because it can be transferred. The same holds true for genital herpes. Most folks simply don't know. You are exposing yourself regardless of who tells and who doesn't. Again, they may never have had an active outbreak. So they tell you they don't have it. Honestly to their knowledge. But it doesn't matter, because they DO HAVE IT. They just don't know it. Therefore I don't even ask any more. I simply figure they have HPV and HSV and play accordingly. I get tested accordingly. I'm very surprised that I haven't had another cervical cancer bout. That does prove one thing. Condoms work. What is interesting? I can't remember any swinger asking me about having an STD. Not one. I did have one vanilla guy ask about HIV. This was before testing. I told him I simply didn't know. I didn't think so...but I couldn't be sure. That would be my answer now regarding most viruses. I did have one woman tell me she had herpes. That was OK with me.
