Ahhhhh now were talking. We have to explain the many offspring that the disease doesn't pass to. My major point is how does one even know that they are HIV positive with no universally accepted protocol and the multitude of false positives.

I guess we should call it a Bodily Fuid Trasmitted Disease then, to be more specific then. Then again, not all transfers of bodily fluids have a high risk. Call it what you like...it still stands to reason that the top 3 ways to contract HIV are sexual contact, contaminated blood transfer, and geneticly in an offspring born to a parent with the virus.

@lost since the drug cartel has a vaccine and thus they will scare with those kinds of reports. There are many high risk cancer inhibiting lifestyle choices that multiply existing cancer cells ( everyone has some cancer cells below so called detection levels). Likewise there are anti cancer lifestyle choices and immunity boosters to increase fighter cells.

Of course, HIV is always a concern. I'll tell you though, HPV stays on my mind though more than that. Holy shit, you can be exposed to HPV, have it lie dormant for a decade, and then get cancer from it. Talk about scary stuff.

The problem with this $840 billion industry is that depending on what info you give, where you take the test and if you've had a cold or flu you may be tested HIV positive. Thus if you pass two of three symptom tests ( persistent cough, weight loss) you may be diagnosed with an HIV "type" virus, which is a very vague and ever changing standard. Not to mention the African monkey-gay white males-black urban women mysterious reports without explanation.

The public should be outraged that this much $ has been spent, this many people have gotten rich, this many people have built fame and careers to only tell us we have a retro virus that came from a monkey in Africa and is an STD with no science to support this.

The initial hypothesis on HIV/AIDS does not hold up to genuine science. Those very conclusions by Robert Gallo were given prior to any controlled analysis.

"HIV/AIDS is not a STD although the politicizing of the disease has created propaganda."

Ummm...lets break it down...HIV causes AIDS...HIV is passed through bodily fluids, one of the easiest ways is sexual contact. AIDS is the condition effecting the body as a result of contracting HIV. By definition, a disease is an abnormal condition effecting the body caused by internal or external factors. So, AIDS is without question a Disease, and it's most commonly transmitted by sexual contact...so regardless of what anyone says, it stands to reason that it is in fact a STD.

I know this is an old thread but a few naive observations.

1. The so-called HIV test is not an HIV test. It is an antibody test...which in effect means little or nothing ( the label says the FDA does not qualify the test as one for HIV)

2. HIV/AIDS is not a STD although the politicizing of the disease has created propaganda.

3. Hundreds of the most brilliant scientific minds in the world have been calling for "the reappraisal of the HIV/AIDS hypothesis" for several years as the current info has been and currently is bad science on the topic.

This is my fear! As a nurse I see many people with HIV/AIDS and most of them I would never have thought that they woud be positive, albiet most of them are males. This is what worries me the most, I plan to be as safe as possible once we decide to do something!

now a days they have test that can be read in minutes, especially for AIDS. I don't know why some of the bigger swinger parties don't invite the Department of Health to attend. they would test for free(at least in NYS). Those that stay after being tested would be assumed to be safe. I know that is not 100% safe but I have to believe that 99.9% of people who found out they are positive with an STD would leave the party and arrange for treatment.
