Many people have difficulty comparing life risks to life risks, as if sexual risks of death are somehow different from risks in the rest of life. There are death risks from everything we do in life. Most people seem to not really think about them unless they're doing something really dangerous, like a blow job. :)

Driving is one of the larger risks that most people face in life. Because I'm in the construction field, work is probably the largest risk in my life. So far I have all my fingers, but I did break my back once.

The risk of HIV transmission from oral sex is hotly contested. Many feel there is not one study that demonstrates conclusively oral transmission of HIV. The difficulty for a study to prove oral transmission is how to rule out all other means of transmission conclusively. The consensus is that unprotected oral sex is at least as safe as vaginal sex using condoms.

The question of course is what risk are you willing take for sex? If you have sex with condoms, then bareback oral sex is no more risky. The risk of HIV from oral sex is no more than other non-sexual risks in life, such as driving.
