According to the CDC condoms are effective only if used consistently and correctly, which they admit most people don't do. They also define “Having sex as anal, vaginal, or oral sex" and I'm sure they would include fingering, etc. which most people don't use condoms for. Now, I use condoms because STDs scare the crap out of my husband, not because I really think with all the other non protected play that has gone on before intercourse that a condom will be of much use at that point. Just my 2 cents.

Re the safety of only playing with one's spouse..... I remember a conversation my gay hairdresser and I had years ago when I mentioned that the only way to have safe sex is to only have sex with your husband. I give Mickey credit for not being delusional about the chances they take. It's about risk - vs - benefit. While most of us understand the benefit (be honest - (almost) all of us wish we could bareback everyone) we seem to disagree on the risk.
For some guys we know, bareback is really their only way. Put a condom on them, and they are history. While we earnestly wish we could accommodate them, we refuse to go bareback for anyone. That may change one day for the "right" people...... Mon dieu! |
