I am certain you believe that is pervasive in America, because it is a widely believed myth, but the fact is (and I know this because my wife is a former social services administrator in NY) the average time on social services for families in America is 3 years. I know that fact blows gaping holes in the cradle to grave welfare myth, but it is a fact none the less........But back to the original point...we are told these people grew flowers in the desert and turned their "promised land" into a neo garden of Eden...Loooks more like a Pine Bluff Arkansas to me

All the men are expected to do is to pray all day. So the boys grow up with fathers who have no job. Men who are expected to be idol. No purpose in life. What is the end result. A creed that is known for raising the highest quality tradesmen in the world is being reduced to trash. Welfare. It does no one any good. At all, period.

Brown indicted on rape, sexual battery charges An Orleans Parish grand jury this week handed up an indictment against the spiritual head of a local Pentecostal church, accusing him of sexual crimes against three juveniles dating as far back as 1977. Bishop Charles E. Brown faces a count of forcible rape and two counts each of sexual battery and committing a lewd act on a juvenile. Bond has been set at $900,000. A familiar figure on the religious landscape of New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina, Brown has since divided his time between New Orleans and Houston. Brown is the jurisdictional bishop for Greater New Orleans in the Church of God in Christ, headquartered in Memphis, Tenn. He also is pastor of Full Gospel Church of God in Christ in New Orleans. A spokesman for The Church of God in Christ said the church suspended Brown after learning of the first allegation, which came to light in September. Police originally booked Brown, who turned 59 Thursday, with aggravated rape on June 28, after an unidentified 39-year-old woman called the NOPD's child abuse unit in March to report that Brown had molested her between the ages of 14 and 16. According to a police affidavit, the woman said that Brown had been her aunt's boyfriend and committed the acts at his home. She told police that Brown recently reached out to "friend" her on the Facebook social networking site. Another COGIC [Church of god in Christ] Pastor Charged With Raping A Child Another Church of God in Christ Pastor has been arrested for sex crimes against an underage child. The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested Thomas Archie Wiggins Jr, 54, on five counts of first-degree sexual offense and five counts of indecent liberties with a minor. As reported by StarNews Online “The crimes allegedly took place in 1998, said Sgt. J.J. Brewer, spokesman for the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office. As of Tuesday, Wiggins was listed as the pastor on the website for Wilmington's Faith Temple Church of God and Christ, 1119 S. 4th St. Phone calls to the church Tuesday afternoon went unanswered. According to the organization's website, Wiggins has been a pastor at the church since December 1998, but Brewer said he did not know when during that year the alleged incidents took place. Wiggins was booked into the New Hanover County jail under a $100,000 secured bond, but bonded out later in the day, according to jail officials. This latest arrest comes on the heels of the most recent COGIC Holy Convocation in which Church Folk Revolution members have criticized Presiding Bishop Charles Blake for ignoring victims of rape with in his organization.

A church in Jacksonville, Florida is coming under fire for its controversial decision to ban children from its church services. According to a local Jacksonville news affilate, Christ Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church has banned children from attending Sunday services because their new pastor, Darrell Gilyard, is a registered sex offender and cannot have contact with children. In 2009 Gilyard plead guilty to lewd conduct and lewd molestation of two underage girls. While he was the pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church Gilyard molested a 15-year-old girl and sent a lewd text message to another. Under the conditions of his plea agreement, Gilyard cannot have “unsupervised contact with children under 18 years old,” and his new church has taken extraordinary steps to help Gilyard stick to the terms of his deal. Despite the seriousness of his offense, Gilyard’s return to the pulpit was swift. After being released from jail on December 28, he resumed preaching in January, and told reporters he hopes he can move past this incident and continue with his work. “Somehow I will prove that life isn’t over when one has committed a crime for which he receives this heinous label,” Gilyard told a reporter, ironically through text message. “You don’t have to languish on the fringes of society.”
