The White House is hitting back at the National Rifle Association for its web video, which refers to President Obama's children.

"Most Americans agree that a president's children should not be used as pawns in a political fight," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said in a statement. "But to go so far as to make the safety of the president's children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly."

Here's the transcript of the NRA's ad:

"Are the president’s kids more important than yours? Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school? Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. But he’s just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security. Protection for their kids. And gun-free zones for ours.”

I guess they forgot to mention that part of the secret service's job is to protect the Prez's family.

since we know that history has absolutely proven that words have led to much death and many, many wars, if what you say is true now that we have bushmasters there will be no more wars. if words can not stop bushmaster then we all need one to overcome the words that start wars.

You can take one side or the other of this debate but not both.

it does make since when you stop to realize that people died in warfare before there were bushmasters. for the bushmaster analogy to be true there could have been not deaths before it came to be. But there were so that line of thought is not valid.

nope not voodoo. Each and every day words are taken from modern holy books and used to justify murder and oppression. This has been true since words and symbols were first put on rocks. Women are being killed with rocks and are having their heads chopped off, today, right now, because of words in holy books that support this as just payment for adultery. Millions have been killed in the name of Islam and the name of Christ. The crusades were religious wars in which not a single rifle was fired but millions died. Hitler inspired the masses with words broadcast over radio. it was the geniuses of answering his "Jewish question". He convinced the German masses that the Jews were at fault for the bad fiscal state of Germany after WWI. His words led directly to the extermination of 6 million men, women, and children. This mass murder was accomplished after the disarming of the Jews solely because they were Jewish. It was the power of the written word that fueled and instigated our revolution and the war that established our country. It is words on the constitution that cause this discussion, and allow it to happen. Words are the most powerful thing we have as a species. From the beginning of known history words have driven people to kill other people. Words are much more dangerous than guns. Always have been and always will be. Words are the tools mankind uses to convince one group of people to kill another group of people. Aren't we a great lot...

Then why do you need a gun, if you can kill with words? Or with a hammer? Or if cars are more deadly? Just try to be consistent; you might like it.

Nothing can be more clear, Obama is not a god, he is not a king, he is not a supreme leader as Hitler was. He is supposed to be the above. He is supposed to be the people, and not better with special privileges. If he deserves to be safe for whatever fucking reason you libtards want to use as excuses. Every single person in this country deserves to have at their disposal the same devices to ensure their safety. Either he provides secret service for EVERYONE, or he drops his(he can do that). Or he allows the people without infringement the right to provide for their own safety.

We can have that dialog the day after we have a similar dialog about your first amendment rights. I believe that we all should agree that you do not need to be able to post more than 30 words at a time for either work or play. Why would anyone need more than 30 words. After all we all know that words have killed many more people on this earth than black guns, or all guns, have so it is an accepted fact among civilized people that words must be controlled for the survival of our children, of course..... So we need to figure out what words sounds and actions you really need under the first amendment and then limit you to that level of expression. We know that there is this pesky old document that our nation was founded on but the time has come that we feel that we know better than our founding fathers what words you need. A few of us demigods will be deciding this for you so just stand by and we will let you know what the new limitations are. In the mean time we will be asking large retailers to not sell anything book or document with more than 30 words in it.
