Original Starting post for this thread:
We have been having a debate about the origins and causes of the Civil War.

Let us shift to a civil conflict in American politics that took place 100 years later, but that replicates so much of the reasons for the conflict that erupted into Civil War in 1861.

Just as the South sought to defend the political economy of slavery in the 1850s (and did so in the name of State's Rights), so too did Strom Thurmond, George Wallace and other Southern leaders seek to defend segregation during the 1850s.

Whatever noble claims Strom Thurmond and George Wallace made about defending the principle of State's Rights and opposing the supremacy of the federal government, at the base of their protests was a desire to defend segregation, just as Jefferson Davis sought to defend slavery in the name of protecting liberty in the South.

Lincoln said a wolf and a sheep have 2 different versions of liberty. The wolf wants the liberty to eat the sheep, while the sheep wants freedom from the wolf's attacks, and Lincoln said that the North was fighting for the sheep's definition of liberty rather than the wolf's (as he saw the slave as the innocent sheep and the wolf as the defenders of slavery).

So, Lucky and PerfectMatch, what was the origin and cause of the conflict that led to Southern protests against the power of the federal government in the 1950s and led to the calling of military troops to help integrate schools in the South?

Barack Hussein Obama, born in Hawaii to a radical Muslim father and an atheist mother who divorced and married another radical Muslim who sent Hussein to a Muslim school.. Now he attends and is mentored by a black radical church who bestowed honors on Farrakhan(sp) a known racist and anti Semite. He accepts money, advice and comfort from a Syrian crook indicted and going on trial in March(Antoin Rezko, Chicago slum lord), a man who supports the PLO( Rashid Alidi ) and Bill Ayers (A central figure in the Weathermen, New Left & SDS, Ayers lived underground for ten years), who bombed the pentagon, the US Capitol and NY police station and declared war against the USA...hussein is a socialist, the most liberal voting record(when he votes, he also has the most present votes) in the US Senate. Do we really know about Obama's secret political life? It turns out that Obama's childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a communist. Through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank."

In his books, Obama admits attending "socialist conferences" and coming into contact with Marxist literature. But he ridicules the charge of being a "hard-core academic Marxist, mateur as President?...when you tell the story tell the WHOLE story!

I am tired of cleaning up the mess caused by legalized White Supremacy which lasted for 170 years in the USA, with segregation--or Apartheid--in the South not being ended by law until 1964.

Me too Sappy Me Too.

I dont have any respect for any race that does the same thing they dont have to be black. It is just more previlent in the black community according to Bill Cosby.

You made a racist statement. Called upon it by me, you attributed it to Bill Cosby. Challenged by me to find the quote, you can't. You made up a racist quote and put it in Cosby's mouth. I shortened up what he said. And in a nut shell this is what he said. Its ok though, I still have no respect for gangters who take innocent life withhout so much effort, and squeeze off babies without a shrug of the shoulders, and and drop out of school with out any regard for how they will live their lives out of poverty. It is not my problem, or maybe it is I will have to pay for these ignorant people.

But I will not rest. I'm tired of it, but I will persist in my own efforts to overcome racism, challenge racism, and to create a more perfect union in the USA with liberty and justice and equal opportunity for all.

And I don't do my job just for the money. I do it for the joy that comes in commiting myself to a career where I can educate people about American culture and history and educate them about who are the heroes in the struggle to overcome racism and who were the roadblocks and why.

I love helping empower people with a good education to fight ignorance and prejudice and to fight for liberty, justice, equality and the promotion of the general welfare.

I like helping students learn from history and literature.

I like amusing students with stories about the jerky stuff and racist myths I see written on the internet.

Thanks for helping me out.

Fortunately, the people of the USA are not so stupid as you are: We the people, as a majority, will not judge a race by what some of its members do.

Black people, like white people, manifest a wide range of behavior, and yoy can find some of the most significant Americans to respect to be African Americans, just as we can find individuals to disrespect who are black.

I believe we should judge people as individuals and not make judgements of people as a race or judge a race by the most dertimental actions of some members of it.

I certainly don't want people judging white people by the actions of Strom Thurmond, George Wallace, Bob Jones and Bull Connor.

I certainly don't want people judging white people by the people who resisted efforts to end segregation.

OH and Wiki which you use regularly has a glitch, it can be altered by its readers. There have been 87 changes to the civil war info listed in it. I looked it up. But the quotes listen were from the LA times archives.

STFU stop it....I told the truth how can any race expect the nation to respect them if they dont respect themselves, and Cosby was saying the same thing. And fact is you no matter what would do this nastiness. He said the same thing I was saying and I agree with his perception that I am not responsible for the black races misgivings. And I refuse to admit this attitude is racist. I am tired of cleaning up the mess but if there is a paycheck in it, I am all for it. It has nothing to do with emotion and everything to do with Money.

Lucky:

The quote has been altered????? What do you mean??? Do you mean that you made up a false quote? Who altered the quote? Who attributed a false quote to Cosby? You passed off a terribly racist quote as belonging to Cosby. Good luck looking into the mirror and calling yourself noble about civil rights, etc.

The racist quote belongs to you not Cosby.
