User Details are only visible to members.	I know the question was directed at someone else, but here's what I think... The gun weighs over 80 lbs and is about 5-1/2 feet long. Not very easy to transport or manuever. One round weighs as much as about 10 rounds of "typical" rifle ammunition. Add the weight of say 100 rounds, and the whole thing is going to weigh over 100 pounds. OK, I'm guessing at the total weight, I've never weighed 100 rounds of .50BMG ammo. I know the bullet alone is about 10 times heavier than a .223 (typical AR15) bullet. You're not going to shoulder or hip fire that monster, you'll also need a tripod, that'll add another 40 pounds. It takes two to operate an M2. My guess is that recent mass murders are done by lone gunme. Using a weapon suited for 1,000+ yard shooting that requires 2 to operate just ain't happenin' by a lone gunman. Mass murders are done using a weapon that doesn't require 2 to operate.

It didn't work to stop interracial breeding (during the slave eras) It didn't work to stop slavery. that took until the fall of the robber barrons. It didn't work for alcohol. It didn't work to stop one religion or another from growing. It didn't stop the Germans from building a military which nearly conquered Europe. (if not for attacking Russia and wasting resources on genocide.) It didn't work for anything. Murder is illegal, yet it happens all the time. It is as much a part of human nature as is creation. The problem is that you like a closed minded person are afraid and so you want it banned. Freedom dies with each new ban and is renewed only when you enlighten yourself to fix the human element, not the tools which are chunks of metal.

A double negative affect. 1) It releases the pressure for mental health system which could then conduct research and provide answers to not to mention provide help for those who need it within our nation. It will generally slow our coming to grips that our nation is tearing itself apart in every aspect that it can, and the release of the pressure will slow the progression to the solutions, let alone our asking the questions of what are our nations real problems which cross all areas on all sides of the political spectrum. 2) It reinforces the ideals that if you don't like something or don't believe in something that someone else dose believe in or like... And you have the superior numbers, you ought to simply ban it. This ought not be the answer to our problems, it isn't maturity, it is immaturity, it is childish and how you deal with children. Growing up, my parents didn't ban porn. At 10 years old, I could watch porn on the internet. I simply had to do it in a manner that was responsible. (not allow my sisters to know, not watch it while others were around.) But I was not punished for it, I was not lectured about it. While growing up the R rated movies were not kept in a super secret place, they were left right next to the Disney movies for all to watch. In both cases, I am not a porn addict nor am I a leather face groupy. I rarely watch porn anymore as it simply is too faked, so it does nothing for me... It doesn't even turn me on... In fact I am more likely to be turned off by porn than turned on. I watched all kinds of Rated R movies as a young child, I do not go around cutting people up, shooting things or otherwise acting poorly. Why? Because I wasn't told no, I was told and expected to act responsibly. You can go to ranges which allow fully automatic weapons and fire belt fed ammunition responsibly, just the same as you can go to any other shooting range and fire a single shot bolt action rifle. Fail to be responsible... and we punish you.... harshly. I am of the school that there are no accidents with fire arms. No situation which is beyond your control. Leave a weapon in the reach of a child and someone is wounded? You intentionally did this and thus intentionally were negligent in your responsibility to maintain proper fire arm safety. You ought to lose all rights to your 2nd amendment and serve time in prison which relates to the count of murder which occurred. Yes, for a negligent homicide it ought to be equal to murder. Yes, for a negligent injury or maiming, it ought to be equal to intentionally doing harm. Let the radical right whine about being forced to be responsible. Let the left whine about not getting your own way about banning something you do not like. So long as both sides dislike this solution, it seems to me that it truly is the center of the both sides and thus the best solution.

They've got storerooms and warehouses full of confiscated stuff, and criminals "will always get a gun somehow", so they say. This is a stupid idea for the same reason it's stupid to think fewer guns would have zero effect.

The country needs to stop talking past one another and identify and address the REAL issues. The propoganda laiden media will be of no use.
