VB, where is this middle ground? Some fine civilized country with lower taxes than the USA has?

VA:

"I'd like to know what it's like to preach contempt for people who fund most of the operation of this country by paying "only" about 40% of their income in various taxes, while simultaneously being under the delusion that doing so while pressing to increase that percentage further is going to do anything other than incentivize said people to reduce this number as much as possible.

I'd also like to know what it's like to be under the delusion that said people believe that there can be no middle ground between being fiscally assraped and a tax-free Somalia."

It is simple. You make too much. You hoard the wealth of this nation, calling it investments, which are simply investments into companies that are always reducing the worth of the employees. (look to minimum wage jobs and others who pay poverty level wages.)

If you paid the employees more, if you paid a full time employee (32 hours a week 50 weeks a year) a living wage that allows them to never be on food stamps or other government program, after their first year of working for you and save for their children's college... You wouldn't be so heavily taxed, you would have grounds for whining about being over taxed.

But so long as a man who shows up to work daily on time, every time, who does the best job he can every day he is at work and must return home to a poverty stricken neighborhood.... I really will have no sympathy for you if the tax rate went up to 100% of your income and if you choose not to work, you (the formally wealthy) would be taken out back and shot after being flogged.

"-- That no matter how much money you make, or how you make it, someone else will pay for the environment that enabled you to make the money? -- That America will be so completely and effusively well armed that no one will dare fire a shot at another? -- That a tower will be built to the ionosphere, with an elevator to the top, allowing you to step off the top and into Earth orbit?"

I would like option C please. Sadly I will likely not live to see it. But I can at the least demand that we lay the ground work and better fund the research and development of this type of technology.

A and B are simply fools who are so greedy that they feel everyone is always after what they have. Kinda like a starved dog becomes food aggressive.

You know I have never heard until recently complaints from the wealthy or uber wealthy of paying taxes, or even paying most of the taxes. The problem is the greed of government does not know when to stop.

I have nothing against those at the bottom paying no income taxes. If they were forced to pay more, it would mean they would want government handouts to bridge the gap. That solves nothing.

What should happen is doing away with useless laws that do nothing but facilitate cutting down trees, and create more government. What I wish the congress would focus on is streamlining the laws. Strengthen good laws that work, get rid of laws that accomplish nothing. But then that would make too much sense.

You don't think it's delusional, but it is. What's your fondest hope? -- That no matter how much money you make, or how you make it, someone else will pay for the environment that enabled you to make the money? -- That America will be so completely and effusively well armed that no one will dare fire a shot at another? -- That a tower will be built to the ionosphere, with an elevator to the top, allowing you to step off the top and into Earth orbit?
