What about the refusal of a mother to believe that her sons could commit such a crime is so hard to believe?

She is being a mother, refusing to see her son's for the monsters she and her father made them into, by polluting their minds with a radical version of their religion.

Do you blame a machine for killing people if it's core programming compels it to do so?

"Exactly, something is terribly wrong in their heads, something unfixable and inexplicable, exactly like a rabid animal. you cannot apply logic to it, all you can do is put 'em down."

Spoken like anyone ignorant of reality.

Most people who commit mass killings are or have been people you would least suspect. Rarely are they the sandyhook killer and most everyone with his condition have never hurt a fly.

Only through study will we find out what society did to break those who were mentally fine and turned them into killers. Only through education can we hope to build a better society, able to apply pressure to those who can handle it, while taking care of those who cannot and yet use them in the most productive manner possible.

Ignorance like what you would want us to demonstrate only leads to purges, purges which often time end with the ones who start them being purged themselves as I would find you to be more a rabid dog than most mentally challenged people that I have ever met.

"The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms. Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons"

If this is a rational test, what is it?

Korematsu v. United States

But the late Supreme Court Chief Justice,William H. Rehnquist had a somewhat different view. He had this to say in his 1998 book All the Laws But One-Civil Liberties in Wartime, p? 124: "An entirely separate and important philosophical question is whether occasional presidential excesses and judicial restraint in wartime are desirable or undesirable. In one sense, this question is very largely academic. There is no reason to think that future wartime presidents will act differently from Lincoln, Wilson, or Roosevelt, or that future Justices of the Supreme Court will decide questions differently than their predecessors

Why is that Mickey? What under current law should have prevented this 19 year old from becoming a citizen?

Shrinks and scientists and other brain nerds and behavioral specialists don't learn all that much from happy, mentally stable individuals. Or at the very least, they're only examining one side of the coin. Like it or not, but the crazies need to be studied.

But perhaps even more important than their scientific uses, there's also the intel factor which you conveniently left out. Yeah, just put a bullet in his head on the spot. We'll find the other bombs he planted sooner or later. No rush.

"I just cannot give a rat's ass as to why they did what ever they did. You put rabid dogs down...period."

This is great logic.......if rabid dogs were responsible for Colorado or Boston.

You don't take them alive because you think killing them would be unjust. You take them alive to find out what the fuck went wrong in their heads that lead them down such a dark path. You take them alive to find out if they acted alone or if others helped plan it. You take them alive to find out if other similar events are going to happen. Corpses don't give intel.
