The republican governor corbet has sent my family some 20 advertisers about how Fox will hurt the coal industry. I think I sent back two replies (to his office) that the coal industry in PA pays its workers 10USD an hour to operate heavy equipment in all kinds of weather, and its security (which protects millions of dollers in equipment and coal) even less.

I even explained how these poverty wages take from the more wealthy who do pay better wages, and thus causes the need for more welfare programs, and is one of the key reasons I vote democrat. If we are to allow poverty wage employers to profit off the backs off the masses... Then I will vote to expand the welfare systems to the poor masses off the backs of the more wealthy as well.

I have as of yet, not received a reply, but their ads stopped showing up in my mail box. So something good has come of it.

Your right VA, the Rep. Party would never send out a letter like you described to registered Dem voters. They just do millions of dollars of media buys to remind you that they are watching. And, if you don't vote it's a win for them but then you already new that.

Frank, I find you guilty of first-degree whooshing and sentence you to searching for:

1. A similar story about letters people get from republicans informing that if they don't vote, "we'll know and want to know why"

(Quite possible it exists, which leads me to #2:)

2. Anything I've ever said to suggest that dirty tricks are exclusively or even primarily a Democratic Party phenomenon.

Dems and Rep can get the same information from the county election board. All that information is a matter of public record and has been and both parties use that same information for various reasons. This information is not only available in Kings County, but in every county of every state or territory that has the right to vote in our elections.

VA, don't make it sound like the Dems are the only ones doing this the Reps are doing the same things.

"because Democrats believe our democracy works better when more people vote, not less,”

Hell to the Yes! Illegals, dead people, etc. Dems want them all to vote early and vote often.

The New York State Democratic Committee wants you to know that it knows who you are, where you live, and it will be very, very, very disappointed if you don't vote. What are they going to do if you don't vote?? See the end for a bullshit follow-up....

It reads:

"Dear _______

Our records indicate that you are registered to vote in Kings County.

Who you vote for is your secret. But whether or not you vote is public record. Many organizations monitor turnout in your neighborhood and are disappointed by the inconsistent voting of many of your neighbors.

Here is some information you may need to vote:

The polls are open from 6am to 9pm.

You can confirm your voter registration by visiting [a website]

If you have any questions about voting, please call [telephone number]

We will be reviewing Kings County official voting records after the upcoming election to determine whether you joined your neighbors who voted in 2014. If you do not vote this year, we will be interested to hear why not."

The committee — chaired by former Gov. David Paterson — defended the scare tactic, calling it standard practice throughout the country.

“This flier is part of the nationwide Democratic response to traditional Republican voter-suppression efforts, because Democrats believe our democracy works better when more people vote, not less,” said Peter Kauffmann, a committee spokesman.

“The difference between Democrats and Republicans is they don’t want people to vote and we want everyone to vote.”

Looking at his watch did not cost him the election.

"Read my lips" did.

I voted for Clinton because of him breaking his promise and acting like a liberal.

IIRC he also signed the first GFSZA.

A commentary from electoral-vote. com. I've brought them up before. While the author is undoubtedly pro-Democrat they are fair and I find his analysis to be good. The last bit re:"are voters so stupid?" is bang-on.

"As many people are aware, it is hot in Florida. One person who is keenly aware of the heat is former Republican governor Charlie Crist, who is now running for his old job but this time as a Democrat. To cool off at Wednesday's debate with Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL), Crist placed a small fan at his feet. When Scott saw this, for 7 minutes he refused to come on stage to debate Crist. While alone on stage, Crist said: "Are we really going to debate a fan or are we going to talk about education, the environment, and the future of our state."

The incident exploded on social media and mostly to the benefit of Crist. Floridians don't see the problem in trying to keep cool when it is hot. This incident might end up being comparable to George H.W. Bush glancing quickly at his watch during a 1992 debate, which some people think cost him reelection. Are the voters so stupid that looking at your watch disqualifies you from being President, even after you have just won a war? Apparently. If Scott loses, it will undoubtedly be blamed on fangate."

Sexy:

You might want to look at something.

In the US, the cost to drill one barrel of oil, is between 50 and 100 USD. This includes oil shale. That means the profit from one barrel of oil is between -20USD (loss) and +30 USD.

Lower oil prices result in the oil companies being unable to make profit... and if I were them, taking losses, I would shut down the operation and reinvest the cost of operating into something else. (likely off shore geothermal energy production.)

Why off shore geothermal energy production? Because it is renewable. Because of the thinner crust at the deeper ocean. Because of the fact that one the operation is established, the environmental clean up and operating cost involved, should be lower than pumping oil.
