We gave much credit to Harry Truman?

Harry Truman scored the all time low approval rating of any President since 1900. It is only since he left office that his rating has improved.

Well, Fun, you usually do your homework, so I believe you. All I can say is there is a reason we were putting personal computers in everybody's homes, and the Russians weren't, and Reagan led that reason, however which way history can be spun. Americans have proved again and again that we can out produce any other form of government, especially communism and socialism. When we all got together, and stopped farting around with the small ball stuff we fart around with today, during the second world war, our productivity was fantastic, our level of civil trust in one another was fortifying, and our general cultural happiness was amazingly high despite the horror of war.. And we all gave much credit to Harry Truman. There was a Democrat we all trusted!!!!

A continuing WTF is the source of reverence many conservatives have for Reagan. He deserves props for some things, such as hanging in there with Volcker's monetary policy to sweat inflation out of the economy. He worked with Tip O'Neill to actuarially strengthen Social Security. And some aspects of the 1986 tax reforms were sorely needed. Maybe the best thing he did was to inspire confidence and optimism. I rarely hear conservatives laud him for these things.

Instead they spout foolishness about him being fiscally prudent, or act like he single-handedly defeated Soviet communism that wouldn't have happened without him.

The USSR failed because we were putting personal computers on every desk while they couldn't put bread on grocery shelves.

And Reaganomics was responsible for reversing three decades of declining debt-to-GDP, almost tripling in 8 years the debt accumulated during the previous 190 years, and leading to a continuing conservative dogma that "deficits don't matter" as long as they are incurred by people trying to starve a beast.

Yeah, but I don't get that point about Carter. Are you saying Reagan increased the number of Bureaucrats a quarter of a million more than Carter had when he left office? I'd sure like to see the proof of that statement!

Do you guys fail to realized the monstrous importance of Reagan's achievement in shutting down the Russian Nuclear threat - especially with no need for a war? As compared to Carters piddling effort with Iran? And Obama's embarrassingly little boy performance in dealing with Putin?

"Even a hard line conservative outfit like Cato admits that "Reagan failed to radically reduce the size of government."

Bobbie, you could almost make it in a bullshit contest with your Hero, but he still beats you for lying for political purpose and to try making a point. Good try, tho. And for Christ's sake, Stalin had been dead for maybe 40 years before Reagan won the cold war. It was Gorbachev who was running the Soviet Union at the time, before you were born. You make up shit all the time you pathetic pissant.
