User Details are only visible to members.	The billionaires in our area are mostly older. They have worked hard, succeeded and then failed, sold their businesses, started over, then worked hard again. You see the famous 80 yr old car dealer in our area? He gives a lot to a lot of programs, without fanfare. Does he just go into the office for a few hours a week? Yeah, probably, he's EIGHTY YEARS OLD and still involved. We need rich people. We need poor people. We need middle class. What we don't need is someone pining for a hand out because "it's not fair." "I didn't have help." "He inherited his dad's business." "They have a nicer house..." "They're so lucky." Life isn't fair. One person's stubbed toe is another person's breast cancer. One person's abusive past is another person's priveleged but lonely existence. I get tired of the complaints about the "rich people" and how they should give their riches away so everyone can have some. Fuck that. Ever read the story of the little hen who made the bread? Sowed the grain, tended the garden, harvested, kneaded the dough? She did all the work. Then when the bread was baking, everyone else came running for their slice. Nope. That just doesn't cut it. User Details are only visible to members.	I've been at several economic levels in my life, and here's my take: Someone mentioned poor hard working people needing to pay to have their lawn mowed. Counter productive, don't you think? I'm going to sound very sexist, and I'm the female here, but when you are paying more for child care and after school programs than you make at work, shouldn't you stay home and save money and also "be there" for your kids? I've known so many people who are working "piddly" $10 an hour job b/c they live over their heads, not bc they are poor and struggling, but bc they are "okay" and struggling. Too high mortgage, two new cars, cars and insurance for their teens, etc. So, b/c they're tired from working in a job they really dislike, they run through the drive thru, and b/c they feel guilt, they enroll their kids in dance, sports, lessons, every single evening of the week to "make up" for...something. I don't know what. Let's let our kids actually PLAY one or two nights a week, eh? So, they're tired, working an extra job, frustrated, stressed, they have no surplus savings built up for emergencies, much less saving for retirement, b/c god knows they'll never be able to retire anyway. A couple mortgages, cars, boat, vacations, and then b/c they are never home, a housekeeper, child care, doggie day care (seriously), and so on. Dining out every night, or most nights b/c they don't know how nor feel they have time or inclination to cook. It's not that hard, really. My point? Life is about choices. If you want to live above your income, that is your choice. If you want to work yourself into illness and frustration doing things you don't really enjoy, just to "fit in" somewhere, that's also your choice. I've been poor and raising a family. It takes some imagination and not every choice is going to be met with, "oh cool, Mom, sure we'll go rent movies at the library, they're free there." It was met, in my case, with, 'Geeze, Mom, we're the poorest family in____(our city). I've been homeless. Going through a divorce. I even dug food out of a trash can. Long story, interesting story. I made it through. I've worked 3 jobs and went to college full time as a 43 year old divorcee. I've been married now to a guy who has his "shit" together regarding money. What makes this work is that I've been through enough in life to know what is important to me and what is not. I do not have to have an outside job in order for ends to be met, and not only ends met, but enough luxuries to enjoy life too. Our house? It's probably $200K LESS than we were approved for, and could've paid for. But we LOVE our house. It suits us well, and we plan to live here a very long time. It's a beautiful one story we can grow old in, and have paid off. It's 25,000 sq ft., 10,000 less than most of our friends in our income bracket. We don't care. Every time we go on vacation and come back in through the door, I say with glee, "I love this house!" Our cars? Both older and paid for. Sometimes I get an urge for something nicer, yes. I could go on, but I'm hoping you get my point. People make choices. It's not because someone is rich and someone is not and jealous. You want a better job? Go work for it, rise up, get promoted, or made different choices and save some money. Rich people aren't just usually rich overnight. More on this in next post.

User Details are only visible to members.	In the mind of a typical poor person, is that the rich have free time, and they can pick and choose how to spend it. Which is possibly so, but more often than not, it isn't the case. Bobby for example is one of those people, I'm certain that his grandpop the DroneyOne holds the same outlook, as well as a few other liberals which often display their cerebral bankruptcy. It never crosses their feeble mind that, sometimes, just sometimes people actually do work, and they work VERY hard, make wise decisions and as a result are able to pull themselves out from the gutter. I always wonder, why are these people so envious of others, why are they constantly insisting on looking into the purse of others, why are they whining endlessly instead of actually doing something to better themselves? Is crying victim going to get them out of the dirt? or is working, and making smarter choices will. Weirdos.

You seem to have thought I was inverting your argument, but I thought I was balancing it. There's a big gulf between 60 hours and 10 hours. Most people aren't really extremists in real life.

It wasn't so much your argument itself that I found ridiculous, but rather, what you were implying - that the poor are hard working people with no free time while the rich work once in a while but have lots more free time. Am I reading too much into what you're writing? Or are you saying the rich are working too much? People don't just work to make ends meet. People work to try to achieve their goals. In our case it's to be financially set by age 50 working perhaps 5-10 hours a week to avoid having to dig into our investments until we are much older, and fully retire perhaps at age 65-70. The worst thing that could happen to this country is for the $500 an hour people to cut back to 5-10 hours a week. It would be a tax revenue disaster.
