The real problem with the oppression of homosexuals is Christians in America. You know, those bastards who refuse to bake the cake for the gay wedding. They deserve, and get, the full weight of government sanctions and public shaming. Nevermind this other stuff. You gotta watch out for the way Christians in The West oppress homosexuals. It's just so terrible.

Rights group decries 'forced anal exams' used in 8 countries

KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) — Human Rights Watch is urging an end to "forced anal examinations" with a report documenting them in eight countries, mostly in Africa, saying the practice is based on flawed ideas about supposedly proving homosexual conduct.

In a report released Tuesday, the advocacy group calls the examinations "a form of cruel, degrading and inhuman treatment" that amounts to sexual assault, violates international conventions and could rise to the level of torture.

The report draws on interviews with 32 men and transgender women subjected to the exams in eight countries that ban same-sex conduct: Cameroon, Egypt, Kenya, Lebanon, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uganda and Zambia.

The report says the exams are rooted in "discredited 19th century theories" that homosexuals can be identified by characteristics of the anus.

A Kenyan court recently upheld the use of anal examinations to determine a suspect's sexual orientation, dismissing the argument that the procedure amounts to torture and degrading treatment.

A group of homosexuals in Uganda will soon launch a court case against the procedure because it violates the country's bill of rights, said Frank Mugisha, a gay leader who said he was aware of many such incidents.

"It's very degrading," he said.

Although some cases involve rape, many involve consenting adults targeted by the police, some of whom try to extort cash from suspects, Mugisha said.

The subject of homosexuality is taboo in many African countries. In 2009, a Ugandan lawmaker introduced a bill that prescribed the death penalty for some homosexual acts. A less severe version passed by lawmakers was rejected by a court as unconstitutional, amid international pressure.

Many homosexuals live secret lives, afraid of beatings and other acts of violence if they are outed.

In a new poll, 52% of respondents said they had seen at least one of Clinton's 20,000 or so ads that have been run on tv.

46% said they had seen at least one of Trump's 0 ads that have been run on tv.

So either 46% of people don't know the difference between a commercial or him just being on tv, or....

....most people are fucking idiots.

And then a raise to $15.25 after their mythical unicorn $15 min wage Bill passes.

That 12.5 is STILL more than the CURRENT minimal wage.

I think a fair min wage is $10.50.

Working America, an advocacy group which is partially behind the push to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour has posted for a job of maintaining their facebook page.

Starting wage is $12.25 an hour.

Hysterical...

Vabeach:

While in an ideal world, the more we consume the more plentiful the jobs become, reality is sharply different. Many jobs are low pay, to poverty pay when it comes to mass manufacturing like deodorant. Worse yet, employers are allowed to generate wealth while the government supplements the employees wages when they qualify for government aid.

Even then, more manufacturing jobs are being accomplished by fewer people, and there is little which can be done to slow the tide. All society can do is change, and that change must start by having fewer children later in life (presumably because one can raise them without government help.), advancing contraception technology (to make it cheaper and more widely available), and improve our food production ability by advancing stem cell, cloning, or genetically modified food production to feed a ever growing mass of people, more of whom will be unemployed as computers make the human obsolete.

If you can't see the relationship, well then, you must be a conservative...

Texas Sen. and Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz — who voted against aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy — called for federal relief Wednesday in the wake of devastating floods and storms that have ravaged his home state.

The Tea Party darling said he supports “the federal government fulfilling its statutory obligations, and stepping in to respond to this natural disaster,” in regards to the barrage of storms that have left at least 21 people dead and 11 others missing.

Cruz, 44, voted against a federal disaster relief bill after Sandy ravaged the East Coast in October 2012 calling the measure “symptomatic of a larger problem in Washington – an addiction to spending money we do not have.”

To mention two unrelated things together - too many brands of deodorant and hungry children - implies that there is a relationship between the two.

I'm pretty sure the latest type of Secret being introduced to the market did not cause one child to starve. In fact, quite possibly the opposite, since we are a consumer-driven economy and more consumerism = more jobs and more paychecks for people to feed their children with.

Not that I would expect Bernie Sanders - or 70% of the country - to understand that....
