HIGHLAND, Ill. (KMOX) - A Metro-East home invasion suspect is in critical condition, after being shot by one of his female victims. Highland Police Chief Terry Bell tells KMOX that when one of two sisters stepped outside her apartment in the 3600 block of Eagle Way to have a cigarette at 3:30 Sunday morning, a 33-year-old Troy, Ill. man forced his way inside the residence.

Chief Bell says the man then assaulted the women and demanded they give him money, “After repeated pleas from the sisters to get out and stop the assault, one of the sisters pulled a revolver from a living room drawer and shot the assailant multiple times.”

The women —ages 47 and 55 — were treated for minor injuries.

Bell says it appears to be a random crime of opportunity.

Can you tell me how many murders were done by people with CCW permits??

Not the point, the point is that CC permits do not prevent or hinder crime, as the stats show

There is no reduction to anyone's right to a weapon if everyone seeking a weapon must have a full background check before being lawfully allowed to buy a gun. Absolutely no one.

If your life is in such danger that you cannot wait a few days to a month, then you are living in the way wrong place, the people around you have failed to report gangs and criminals to the police.

When the people of an area fail to use the system, to report crime and criminals, that people have brought all manner of unfortunate outcomes upon themselves.

The Lott-Mustard Report

John Lott and David Mustard, in connection with the University of Chicago Law School, examining crime statistics from 1977 to 1992 for all U.S. counties, concluded that the thirty-one states allowing their residents to carry concealed, had significant reductions in violent crime. Lott writes, "Our most conservative estimates show that by adopting shall-issue laws, states reduced murders by 8.5%, rapes by 5%, aggravated assaults by 7% and robbery by 3%. If those states that did not permit concealed handguns in 1992 had permitted them back then, citizens might have been spared approximately 1,570 murders, 4,177 rapes, 60,000 aggravated assaults and 12,000 robberies. To put it even more simply criminals, we found, respond rationally to deterrence threats... While support for strict gun-control laws usually has been strongest in large cities, where crime rates are highest, that's precisely where right-to-carry laws have produced the largest drops in violent crimes."

"Most Murders" is meaningless, (over 5 million people in the Chicago metro area were NOT affected by gun violence last year) but even THAT list has the majority of cities with CC laws and lax gun regulations.....sorry...there is no spin to prove your contention here...more guns = less crime was debunked a long time ago
