So everybody just get's to make their own? That's almost where we are, and it's not working out so well in my opinion.
I wont disagree with that point. But How would you suggest we go about making any give moral creed the law for every human. To do so we would have to establish said moral creed as truth for all people at all times and in evey circunstance. We end up with a bunch of idiots who think nothing of saying 'fuck your religion'. Much like I have done with my own religion when I chose to be a swinger. |

"Now we are talking about choices and the consequences of those choices.
This is different than obeying religious dogma. " And it's the same as religion having an INFLUENCE on society. I'm not promoting that everyone adhere to church dogma. There's a balance that's needed. We are nearing one end of the pendulum swing, where religion is ridiculed and ignored. It's not a good thing for society. The other end of the swing isn't good either, think the dark ages. |

Saving money for retirement is a good idea, unless you get struck by a car and killed at age 40. You could have used that money for something to benefit you while you were alive.
Now we are talking about choices and the consequences of those choices. This is different than obeying religious dogma. Christian dogma states that what would be good for me, would be to render all i have unto God.To be content in my current circumstances. |

Sweet the Pope does not make laws, or enforce them. I realize at one time the church had that kind of power. It does not anymore, and it never did legally in the US(First Amendment).
The government now is the sole controller of those powers now to force people to do things against their will. Including legislating morality. |

I can't figure out why you're more comfortable with politicians making laws on morals.
I'm not, nor am I comfortable with lets say,the Pope or the Ayatollah making laws on morals. |

Sweet
Does something have to be the absolute truth to be good for you? Saving money for retirement is a good idea, unless you get struck by a car and killed at age 40. You could have used that money for something to benefit you while you were alive. |
